Teaching plan 8B Unit4 A good read Task 句容二中 刘后花 Teaching aims: 1. To get information from a report about Millie’s reading habits. 2. To write a report about the reading habits. 3. To form good reading habits. Focus of the lesson: Analyze Millie’s report and make students know how to describe their own reading habits. Difficulties of this lesson: Write a report to introduce one’s reading habits. Teaching Procedures: Step1: Lead in 1 Do a magic trick.. 2 Tell students I learnt the magic trick from the book. 3 Tell students that I’m a good reader, I’m not just interested in books about magic, in fact, I like reading different types of books. Step2: Presentation Talk about something about reading and teach new words. Step3:Do a survey about reading habits. 1.Ask and answer questions on learning sheet. 2. Interview some of the students about their reading habits. Step4: Analyze Millie’s report 1. Work out the structure of the report Para1 : How much time to read & what to read Para2: Where to get books & who to share books with Para3: Why does she like reading books? 2. Analyze Para1 a Find out how much time Millie spends reading each week and what type of book she likes. b Use different sentence patterns to express: I spend over seven hours a week reading different types of books. I read a lot at the weekend. 3. Analyze Para2 a Find out how Millie gets most of her books and who she shares books with. b Use different sentence patterns to express: My friends give me lots of advice on books. 4. Analyze Para3 a Find out why Millie likes reading. b Use different sentence patterns to express: Reading is always a wonderful time. 5. Find out the transitions in Millie’s report. 6. Sum up useful expressions and transitions. Step5 writing 1. Present this table. My reading habits 1.How much time to read   2.What to read   3.When to read   4.Where to read   5.How to get the books   6.Who to ask for advice   7.Who to share books with   8.Why do you like reading?   2. Talk about the structure Paragraphs What to write             3. Ask the students to write the report, while the teacher walk around in the classroom and offer some help. Step 6 Evaluation 1. Self-editing: Ask students to check their reports by themselves, find out the mistakes and try to correct. 2. Peer-editing: a. Present the evaluating standards, ask students to share their reports with their partners, check the reports and give marks.(10分制) c. Give their partners some advice . 3 Present and evaluate one or two reports in class. Homework: Improve your article and write it down in your composition book.
