Let’s go over some important festivals .At first let a S give a report﹙the T asks him or her to speak out some names of festivals﹚.Then the T shows the Ss some pictures on the screen. And asks the Ss: Do you know the names of these festivals ? Then look at a special picture,let the Ss guess its name and present the title“Halloween”.
StepⅢ.New lesson
1. The T asks the Ss to think :What’s Halloween ? and Why do people celebrate it? At first let the Ss discuss them ,if necessary the T explains them.
﹙Halloween is a ghost festival.And the T shows the origin of Halloween﹚
2. Let’s go into the text ,in this period,we will learn Parage.2,3and4. we can divide 3 parts to learn .Firstly, the T writes down the question(How do people celebrate Halloween ? )on the Bb .Then ask the Ss to find out the time :on the evening of Oct.31;on Halloween and on Halloween evening.Now we can learn them together like this:
A: on the evening of Oct.31.→trick or treat .
At first the T reads this passage for the Ss and let the Ss listen carefully, then find out a topic sentence and main idea of this passage.the T explains sth.and shows some pictures on the screen.
B: On Halloween→make some pumpkin lanterns.
Make the Ss read Parage3, make sure that the Ss know it ,Then the T asks one or two Ss to draw a pumpkin lantern on the Bb.Then the T presents some interesting pumpkin lantern pictures and explains them on the screen.
C: On Halloween evening→have a party
Like above ,let the Ss read the passage,the T shows some pictures about parts on the screen.
3. Three ghost festivals in china
Tell the Ss :Halloween is a ghost festival ,but in our country there are 3 ghost festivals ,let the Ss guess: What are they ? then compare them with Halloween .﹙similar and different﹚show them on the sceen.
