Language teachers, learners and other professionals across the United States are celebrating National Grammar Day on March 4. The holiday celebrates the rules and best practices for English language. Martha , the founder of the Society for Promotion(促进) of good Grammar(SPOGG), set the date as National Grammar Day in 2008.There are about 6,000 members of SPOGG who will take time on March 4th to celebrate the usage of good and proper Grammar.
We simply cannot stand for missing prepositions, disagreement between subjects and verbs, or awkward(别扭的) word usage. Confusion between “good” and “well”, “you”and “you’re---we will not have it!
Whether it is a PhD dissertation(论文), a business report or a casual mail to a friend, good Grammar is a must This March 4th, why not be extra “Grammatical”? Here are some ways to celebrate National Grammar Day:
Go Contraction-Free
Contractions (won’t, I’m, shouldn’t,etc.) are perfectly “legal” in the world of grammar. They are extremely common in speech and casual writing. Why not challenge yourself on National Grammar Day and omit all constructions? If you are careful with your speech, it should not be a problem.
Write Someone a Letter
It is the old -fashioned way. With e-mails and text messages,it is so uncommon to take time to sit down and finish a hand-written letter. On this great day, why not write a letter to your best friend or your beloved one?
Join SPOGG
Writers, teachers students and anyone that I did not mention:Join SPOGG and show your support for the practice of proper grammar. Singing up is free and it will provide you with periodic and entertaining updates(最新资料) related to grammar.

●17 .
We are brought up to believe that we are more important than everyone else and that we need to take care of our own needs and wants first. But after a while we realize that we feel kind of empty.
