1. Talk with Ss about the life during the summer holiday.
Questions:
Did you have a good time during the summer holiday?
Did you do something meaningful? Did you feel unhappy about anything?
What impressed you most during the Summer Holiday? to elicit: the 29th Olympic Games.
Step 2
2. Talk with Ss about the 29th Olympic Games.
Questions:
Did you watch the games?
How many medals did China get?
Which items were Chinese athletes outstanding in?
Which sport item do you like to watch most?
What do you think of this great event of China?
Why was it held so successfully? to elicit: volunteer
What did the volunteers do for the games? to elicit the importance of English.
Step 3
1. Discuss with Ss about how they can learn English better in this term.

Step 4
1. Show the four words that make life and study worthwhile to Ss. Encourage them to study happily, to live meaningfully.

教学后记:
新学期的第一堂英语课, 总想让学生留下深刻的印象.正好借着奥运会的契机,让学生们畅谈这次盛会,为中国喝彩,为运动员顽强不息的拼搏精神,交谈会带给学生们触动,从而反思自己的学习行为和处事态度. 同时,奥运会的召开,也带来了一股学英语热, 志愿者的出色工作表现,也为奥运会抹上亮丽的一笔色彩, 通过和学生的交流, 使得他们更深刻地领会到学英语不仅是应付考试,更是我们生活中的一个必要的技能, 特别是21世纪获得成功的不可缺的要素. 在课堂的最后,我和学生们一起喊出了这样几行字:
Let’s master English to make our future brighter!
Let’s master English to make China stronger!
Let’s master English to make our world a better place!
看着学生专注的神情, 听着学生响亮的读声, 我想我这堂课的教育目的已经达到了!!
