高三英语新闻文章阅读技巧课教案 How can we read news fast and understand better? I. Teaching aims: a. Language knowledge: languages in news stories b. Language ability: Reading: enable Ss to skim for main ideas in the contexts of news reports enable Ss to scan for implied meanings, etc in the contexts of news reports Speaking: exchange updated news in class by grasping the main points orally report one or two pieces of news in class watch a video and report the story c. character building: be efficient in reading news stories II. Key points a. reading skills for main ideas and intentions b. news reports writing III. Difficult points a. overcome new words & comprehend reading materials b. in-class discussion IV. Teaching methods: audio-visual & reading & discussing approaches V. Teaching aids: TV, computer & reading handouts Teaching procedures Step I---Warm-up & lead-in Brainstorming Ss for their ideas about how to read news stories. Step II---Sum-up & pre-reading Sum up the key points in reading a news story on blackboard. Present the structure of news reporting by analyzing some headlines and leads. headline 标题 lead 导语 (the most important “w”) elaboration 解释或阐述性材料 background 背景材料 secondary material 次要材料 Analysis of a news item Check Ss comprehension by collecting Ss’ answers to some questions: a. The best title for the report is ___________. b. The purpose of this news story is __________. c. The underline word means ________. Step III---Practice & develop reading skills Individual work: Passage A/B Encourage Ss to focus on the Lead Encourage Ss to give their own explanations for their comprehension. Step IV---Exchange news over the past weeks Group work: share news in one or two sentences. Presentation in class: pick up Ss to present their own news.
