Teaching Objectives:
Understand the meaning of the new words or phrases in the text “The search for happiness”; v
Practice the phrases through various exercises; v
Create more phrases and use them freely in their writing or speaking.
Important and difficult point: Make students remember and use these words and phrases when they are speaking or writing in English.
Teaching Procedures:
Step1. Homework checking
1. Check the homework of students. Ask students to tell the answers to the blanks together.
Sang Lan was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang province in 1981. She began learning gymnastics at six. Sang achieved success in gymnastics at a young age, starting to win 1. _____________ (competition) in 1991. Her teammates described her 2. ______ happy and hardworking.

Step 3 Competition
1. Round One: Paraphrasing: express the meaning in another way
Ask students to express the following meaning with four phrases in the book: 1.to change something to suit different conditions or uses; 2. be taken to some place with great speed; 3.achieve desired result; 4.be grateful to something or have an understanding and enjoyment of something. Each student has two chances.
2. Round Two: Picking fish bones for different points
3. Round Three: Creating a passage
Write a short passage about TFBoys within 50 words, trying to use at least 4 of the phrases learnt in the period.
