A
Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo was born on 5 February, 1985. He is one of the most popular football players in the Europe. In 2007 he won the award for being the best player in English football and also for being the best young player. “He’s not only one of the best players in Britain, he’s one of the best players anywhere in the world. At the age of 21, he can only get better,” says his coach.
When Ronaldo joined Manchester United as an 18-year-old player, he became the most expensive teenager footballer ever. He quickly showed he was worth(值得) the money. Some are calling him the new David Beckham! But in the 2006 World Cup, many English football fans became angry with him because they believed he was trying to get his united team-mate Wayne Rooney kicked out of the game, Sir Alex Ferguson, however didn’t agree and insisted on Ronaldo staying with the Manchester United. Unlike other players, every time Ronaldo gets knocked down, he not only gets back up, but goes for the ball again. Many people think he plays too hard.
