About this Course 关于课程
Management is an introductory undergraduate course that teaches the fundamentals of management. At SDUFE, this is the first course that undergraduates take in management related majors。 For some, it may be the only course they take in the subject, and it provides a solid foundation for management analysis and thinking that can last throughout their education and subsequent professional careers. For other students, it may provide a foundation for many years of study in business administration, public management, or related fields.
The main contents of this course involve the scientific management theories, management methods and management functions. To be specific, this course has covered Chinese management development history, western management development history, management functions of decision—making, planning, organization, leadership and control。
By the end of the course, you will be able to master the basic conceptions, principles and methods of management, and understand the emergence and evolvement process of the management thoughts and management theories, the main representative theorists and their theoretical contributions, and be familiar with the main contents and organization methods in management process.
Prerequisites and Preparation 先修课程
In order to learn this course better, some basic knowledge concerning economics and mathematics is needed. These related knowledge can help students understand the reason, process and outcome of management phenomenon, and equip them with efficient mathematical tools to analyze them。

After completing this course, students should have developed a range of skills enabling them to understand management concepts and use those concepts to analyze specific questions。
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
· Understand history of management thought.
· Understand concepts of manage, management and manager。
· Understand principles and characteristics of management.
· Understand functions of management.
Students should also have the skills needed to:
· Use representative management thoughts and theories to analyze certain management phenomenon。
· Make precise and comprehensive management decision.
· Make precise and efficient plan, as well as carry out and evaluate it.
· Organize people and capital so as to achieve certain purpose。
· Create effective leadership and encourage team member.
· Communicate effectively with people around。
· Control different management process so as to help organization reach success。
· Make management innovation to gain competitive advantage.

Readings are assigned for each lecture, and should be completed prior to watching the lecture videos and completing subsequent activities.

Recitations
In Recitations, students meet with a Teaching Assistant in a smaller group to go over problem set and exam solutions, review key concepts, and occasionally learn new material. A selection of recitation notes is included throughout this course.
Deliverables and Grading 成绩与评分
There will be nine mandatory problem sets which will be individually graded. At the end of the term students will have the best eight homework grades cumulated up and this will count for 22% of the final course grade。
There will be two midterm exams held throughout the term。 These will each cover roughly one —third of the course material, will be 2 hours long, and will count as 22% (collectively 44%) of the grade。
There will also be a three hour final, which will be cumulative and cover all of the course materials。 This will count as the remaining 34% of the grade。
