Most pop stars are used to hearing the screams of crowds of girls. But when Yida Huang (黄义达) did his morning exercises, the “wows” and whistles all came from other guys.
Perhaps we shouldn't be surprised. The 24yearold new talent from Sony Music shared a teacher with Stefanie Sun (Yanzi). He also shares Sun's smile, which has earned him the nickname “the male Yanzi”.
Once he opens his mouth, though, there is no question that Huang is a man. He is only 172cm tall and weighs just 50 kilograms, but his_strong_and_powerful_voice_can_cross_the_boundaries_of_rock_‘n’_roll,_classical_and_pop_music.
His first album, Hard to Define (《无法定义》), which was released on April 21, is a positive sign of things to come from this Singapore native.
But if a boyfriend of his sister's hadn't given him a guitar on his 15th birthday, his talent might never have been realized.
“I was so confused about my future because everyone thought going to university was the only way I would achieve a good life,” he said. “But that day, I suddenly realized music should be my destiny. Then I set off on that path.”
He spent a whole year alone teaching himself how to use the instrument. He also spent hours listening to records and practising playing the tunes until he could play them back.
One year later, his talent was discovered by an entertainment company. He hasn't looked back.

Rose Parks has been called the mother of the American Civil Rights Movement.
Until the 1960s, black people in many parts of the United States did not have the same civil rights as white people. Laws in the South America kept the two races separate. These laws forced black people to attend separate schools, live in separate areas of a city and sit in separate areas on a bus.
On December 1st, 1955, in the southern city of Montgomery, Alabama, a 42yearold black woman got on a city bus. The law at that time required black people who sat in a particular area of the bus to give up their seats to white people who wanted them. The woman refused to do this and was arrested. This act of peaceful disobedience started protests in Montgomery that led to legal changes in minority rights in the United States. The woman who started it was Rosa Parks.
The bus driver demanded that all four black people leave their seats so that a white person would not have to sit next to any of them. The three other blacks got up, but Rosa Parks refused. She was arrested.
Some popular stories about that incident include the statement that Rosa Parks refused to leave her seat because her feet were tired. But she herself said in later years that this was false. What she was really tired of, she said, was accepting unequal treatment. She explained later that this seemed to be the place for her to stop being pushed around and to find out what human rights she had, if any.
She was born in 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Rosa married Raymond Parks in 1932. He was a barber who cut men's hair. He was also a civil rights activist. Together, they worked for the local group of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People. Later she became a representation of freedom for millions of AfricanAmericans.
4.What was the situation for blacks in the south of the United States in the 1960s?
A. They were separated from whites although it was forbidden by laws.
B. They could study in the same school with whites.
C. They could not live in the same area of a city with whites.

A. the family of Rosa Parks were unhappy because of their colored skin

Ⅴ.阅读理解七选五
What to Avoid to Become An Adult
__1__ But what makes someone an adult? It's more than just your age — it's how you act. Below are several childish habits to avoid.
Interrupting conversations.
Remember when you were 5 and your parents were talking to other grownups? You'd walk over and repeatedly call out: “Mom!” or “Dad!” to get her or his attention. Yeah — that was improper then — but you were 5, so it was understandable. __2__ Sometimes, listening is much more important than talking.
Fighting.
People seem to show increasingly less respect to one another, so physical fights might seem unavoidable. But fighting is extremely uncool, and worse, it's foolish. If you consider the result of a fight, is it ever good? __3__
You win, but you get nothing but an enemy or you put yourself in trouble by causing permanent damage to the other person.
You lose. You're the one beaten. Everyone witnessed it, and now you're ashamed.
__4__
Throwing fists, breaking glasses, screaming or having a bad attitude isn't going to solve anything. Don't act like a little child, crying in the store because your parents didn't buy you what you wanted.
Picking your nose.
Seriously, just use a tissue. If someone sees you move your hand away from your nose, then begin to roll something between your fingers, they can easily tell what you've done. __5__
A. Losing temper.
B. Enjoying shouting and playing.
C. Don't expect them to shake your hand in the future.
D. Consider the possible effects.
E. Many teenagers want to be treated like adults.
F. Still, some adult people are also unable to wait for their turn to speak.
G. Some teenagers feel fighting is a cool thing.
答案 1.E 2.F 3.D 4.A 5.C
