A He was a real big spender. He stayed at the best hotel and ate in the most expensive restaurants. To the management of Disneyland Paris, he was a very welcome guest, even though he was only 12 years old. In the end, the police discovered that the schoolboy was living the high life on the £10,000 stolen from his father's safe. The boy, named only Lamine, had disappeared from the family hotel in Paris 10 days earlier. While police all over France searched for him, he was living it up at a £250anight Disneyland hotel. He went on all the rides and went on every other attraction in the place. And when he'd had enough of Disneyland for a while, he paid £650 to hire a large and very comfortable car which is usually used by very rich or important people to take him to a park for a day. Then he was driven back to Disneyland, where he treated newfound friends to expensive rides and dinner. By the time the truth about him was discovered, Lamine had spent £7,000 of his father's money. 1.What was the possible reason that the police all over France searched for Lamine? A. The police found that Lamine stole his father's money and ran away. B. The family found that the boy was lost and called the police for help. C. The police thought that it was dangerous to live an expensive life. D. The family wanted Lamine to go back to school. 由第三段“... had disappeared from the family hotel in Paris 10 days earlier.” 2.Why was Lamine a very welcome guest of Disneyland Paris? A. Because he was only 12 years old. B. Because he liked the rides in the Disneyland. C. Because he made the Disneyland famous. D. Because he spent a lot of money on Disneyland. 3.The underlined word “He” in the first paragraph refers to ________. A. a schoolboy B. his father C. the police D. Lamine 答案与解析 D 代词指代题。由第三段“The boy, named only Lamine, ...” B This summer, thousands of visitors are walking through a garden in the skyright in the middle of New York City. They are enjoying a beautiful, new park called the High Line, which was built on old railway tracks. After the railway was abandoned in 1980, wild plants, grass and trees began to grow between the tracks. A few people looked at this natural garden and saw something amazing. They worked to preserve the area when others wanted to destroy it. Today, the High Line attracts up to 2 million visitors per year. This summer, the new part of the High Line opened, almost doubling the park's size to one mile. The design of the park is unusual. The new section includes many activities for children. Young people can use building toys to create all kinds of structures. The toys don't come with instructions. Instead, children use their imaginations. The park also gives visitors a chance to experience nature in an urban environment. If you visit, you can see birds, butterflies and many plants native to the northeastern United States. “Everyone supporting the High Line project wanted the park to embrace (拥抱) the city,” says Danya Sherman, director of public programs for the Friends of the High Line. The Friends of the High Line is the group that saved the railway from being destroyed. Sherman believes that public spaces such as the High Line have the power to bring communities together. The Friends of the High Line hopes to expand the park even further, over an area that is still used as a rail yard. The High Line has also inspired projects in other cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, and Amsterdam, where people hope to build new parks on old railway tracks. 4.The Friends of the High Line is a group to ________. A. attract a lot of old people B. make much more money C. create all kinds of structures D. stop the old railway from being destroyed 答案与解析 D 细节理解题。由文章第四段其次句“The Friends of the High Line is the group that saved the railway from being destroyed”可知D项正确。 5.The High Line park has the following advantages EXCEPT ________. A. offering many activities for children B. bringing communities together C. improving children's imagination to nature D. experiencing nature in an urban environment 答案与解析 C 细节理解题。 6.From the second paragraph, we can know that ________. A. the railway was abandoned for wild plants, grass and trees B. the High Line Park was built on the area of old railway tracks C. no people have made efforts to protect the railway tracks D. the new part of the High Line doubled the visitors 答案与解析 B 推理推断题。 7.In which column (栏目) of a website can you find the passage? A. Nature. B. Animals. C. Science. D. Ads.
