Researchshowsthatpeopleincarsandbusesareexposedtotentimestheamountofpollutantsaspeoplewalkingonthestreet.Thatislargelybecausetheybreatheintheparticlesandgassesreleasedfromthevehiclesinfrontofthem.
Overtime,thesesmallparticlesspeedthebuildupofastickysubstanceintheblood.Thiscancauseblockages(阻塞)toforminthearteries(动脉)aroundtheheartandleadtoaheartattack.
Otherstudieshavealsolinkedhearttroubletostress,similartothekindthatpeoplefacewhiledrivinginheavytraffic.Buttheresearchersofthelateststudysaytheydonotknowwhethertheincreasedheartattackriskwastheresultofstressorpollution.Theysuggestitmaybeacombinationofstress,noiseandpollution.Expertssaytheresearchshowstheneedfrocleanervehiclesandbettercityplanning.
