"I was always well prepared for my tests. Sometimes I studied for weeks before a test. Yet I would go in to take the test, only to find I could not answer the questions correctly. I would blank out because of nervousness and fear. I couldn’t think of the answer. My low grades on the tests did not show what I knew to the teacher." Another student in microbiology had similar experiences. He said, "My first chemistry test was very difficult. Then, on the second test, I sat down to take it, but I was so nervous that I was shaking. My hands were moving up and down so quickly that it was hard to hold my pencil. I knew the material and I knew the answers. Yet I couldn’t even write them down!" These two young students were experiencing something called test anxiety. Because a student worries and he is uneasy about a test, his or her mind does not work as well as it usually does. The student can’t write or think clearly because of the extreme tension and nervousness. Although poor grades are often a result of poor study habits, sometimes test anxiety causes the low grades. Recently, test anxiety has been recognized as a real problem, not just an excuse or a false explanation of lazy students. Special university counseling courses try to help students. In these courses, counselors try to help students by teaching them how to manage test anxiety. At some universities, students take tests to measure their anxiety. If the tests show their anxiety is high, the students can take short courses to help them deal with their tension. These courses teach students how to relax their bodies. Students are trained to become calm in very tense situations. By controlling their nervousness, they can let their minds work at ease. Learned information then comes out without difficulty on a test. An expert at the University of California explains. "With almost all students, relaxation and less stress are felt after taking our program. Most of them experience better control during their tests. Almost all have some improvement. With some, the improvement is very great." 6. To “blank out” is probably______. A. to be like a blanket B. to be unsure of an answer C. to be unable to think clearly D. to show wrong knowledge to the teacher 7. Poor grades are usually the result of _______. A. poor hygienic habits B. laziness C. lack of sleep D. inability to form good study habits 8. Test anxiety has been recognized as _______. A. an excuse for laziness B. the result of poor habits C. a real problem D. something that can’t be changed 9. To deal with this problem, students say they want to ______. A. take a short course on anxiety B. read about anxiety and know how to deal with it C. be able to manage or understand their anxiety D. take tests to prove they are not anxious 10. What can be inferred from the passage? _______. A. all students could overcome the anxiety after taking a special test anxiety program B. most of the students felt relaxed after taking a University of California counseling course C. students found it difficult to improve even though they had taken a special test anxiety course D. students found it easy to relax as soon as they entered a University of California counseling course 【参考答案】6—10、CDCAB 【陕西省2022五校联考】书面表达 (满分30分) 目前我国中同学的健康状况越来越差,这使父母、学校和专家感到忧虑。为解决这一问题,有些人提出将体育纳入高考。请结合实际谈谈你的看法。 留意: 1. 短文词数不少于100; 2. 可适当增加细节,以使行文连贯。 3. 文章的首句已经给出,不计入总词数。 The fact that high school students are currently experiencing a sharp decline in health has aroused wide concern among parents, schools and experts. 【参考范文】书面表达 (满分30分) The fact that high school students are currently experiencing a sharp decline in health has aroused wide concern among parents, schools and experts. To have this problem solved, some people suggest that PE be included as a subject in the College Entrance Examination. I’m against the idea because it is by no means practical. Setting up standards for the exam alone may well be a hard task. It is far beyond our ability to manage such a nationwide exam in the sports field. However, good health is an essential foundation of learning. Only when one is in good health can he guarantee efficient learning. Therefore, it is school’s responsibility to help develop their students’ awareness of the importance of keeping fit. Moreover, schools should provide sufficient sports facilities for their students to have regular exercise. 3.参考词汇:成果差的同学:a slower student特长:strength 缺点:weakness Dear Mr.Zhang, We have held a discussion about whether it is good or not for a top student to share a desk with a slower student. 【参考范文】写作 Dear Mr.Zhang, We have held a discussion about whether it is good or not for a top student to share a desk with a slower student. Some are for the idea.In their opinion, everyone has strengths as well as weaknesses.Although they are not good at lessons, they might do well in other fields like sports or arts. Therefore, they can learn from each other, and they may develop friendship. In addition, top students can help slower ones gain self-confidence by helping them with their lessons, which benefits them all. However, others don’t hold the same view. They think some slower students are always making trouble, such as keeping talking in class and breaking school rules, which may lead to their forming bad habits.Besides, slower students often ask top students questions, which has a bad effect on their studies. In my opinion, I’d like to choose to share a desk with a slower student so that we can learn from each other and make progress together. Yours, Li Jun
