　　Astronomy is the oldest science known to man. Thousands of years ago man looked at the stars and wondered about the heavens. But man was limited by what he could see with his eyes alone.
　　The Greeks studied astronomy over 2, 000 years ago. They could see the size, color, and brightness of stars. They could see their places in the sky. They watched the stars move as the seasons changed. But the Greeks had no tools to help them study the starry heavens.
　　Each new tool added to the files of astronomy; it helped man reach out into space. Until there were telescopes(望远镜), man knew little about the moon. They did not know that the planet called Saturn(土星)has rings around it. Their sight was so limited that they could not see all the planets. In the early 1700s, people thought there were only six planets.
　　Before the spectroscope(分光镜), man did not know what kind of gases are in the sun or other stars. Without the radio telescope(电波望远镜)we did not know that radio noises come from far out in space.
　　Today, astronomy is a growing science. We have learned more in the last fifty years than in the whole history of astronomy.

　　Born in a poor family with six children in Buenos Aires, young Diego Maradona couldn’t even afford a ball to play with on the streets. Luckily, some of other kids invited Diego to play, since he proved to be extremely talented even during his early years. It was in one of these “street matches” that Maradona was found by a talent coach and, at age 10, was offered a place in the youth squad of Argentinos Juniors.
Despite being shorter than most of his youth teammates, he could control the ball much quickly on the ground. He played for Argentinos Juniors for 5 years before being bought by Boca Juniors.
Since he played well constantly for Boca, Maradona was called for the 1982 World Cup and to everyone’s surprise, the young Argentinean played in all of his country’s five matches, and even managed to score twice against Hungary.
In 1986, with another World Cup closing in, Maradona was expected to be one of the stars of the tournament(锦标赛). He did not let his fans down. Maradona scored 5 goals and had 5 assists throughout the tournament, with one of the goal, scored against England in the quarter finals, viewed by many as the “Goal of the Century”.
Maradona captained his national side in Italy’s 1990 World Cup and Argentina was close to defending its title. But the team did not play as well as in 1986 and an ankle injury did not allow Maradona to play at his best, either.
His final soccer years found him playing for yet another World Cup, the 1994 one held in the United States. But an aged Maradona only managed to play in two games, before failing a drug test. However, he was a great player who played in 4 World Cups and scored in all 4 of them!
