Personally speak, the process of fighting for the goal is less important than the result. When we fight for our goals, we will be devoted what we are doing and try to improve us. If we fail in the end, when we look back on the beginning, we will find that we are no longer the childish one. We have grown up. What's the more, in the process of fighting, we got close to success, as the saying goes that failure are the mother of success. So don't treat the result so serious; just enjoy the process. 故which改为what。 故less改为more。 词组搭配:be devoted to“致力于……”故devoted后加to。 故us改为ourselves。 what’s more“另外,而且”为固定搭配。故去掉the。 故got改为get。 故are改为is。 21. Apple is offering a new tool that lets potential buyers a used iPhone, iPad, and iPod know if the devices were previously stolen. The new Activation Lock Status tool, available through the company’s iCloud service, allows users to enter the device’s serial number and see if used devices are currently locked down or have ever been locked down by a previous owner, which would indicate the device was stolen. The reason behind the feature? Few customers would buy stolen devices, especially ones they can’t use, so thieves will be deterred from stealing them in the first place. Apple introduced its “kill switch” feature with iOS 7 last September. Using the Find My iPhone app and iCloud. corn, users can track their phone’s location, in case it was accidentally left somewhere. Or, for those who believe their phone was stolen, they can enable the kill switch, which locks down the phone. The app can also delete all of its data in case the phone contains sensitive information. The only way to re-enable the device once it is locked down is to enter its associated Apple ID and password. Hackers figured out a way to unlock mobile and tablet devices by tricking the device into using an alternative iCloud server, writes PC World. That’s where the new Activation Lock Status tool comes in. Even if hackers are able to trick the device into unlocking, potential customers can check if the device was ever locked from the Find My iPhone feature. Mobile devices have a high robbery rate. In California, 1 in every 3 robberies includes a mobile device, according to the Federal Communications Commission. For Oakland, Calif. , it’s 75 percent of robberies. But Apple’s locking feature has been extremely effective. In the months after the kill switch feature was released, iPhone thefts dropped 38 percent in San Francisco, according to a June law enforcement report. The robbery rate of Samsung phones, which don’t have a kill switch feature, increased 12 percent. In an attempt to cut down on the number of phones stolen across the state, California passed a law that will require all smartphones to have a kill switch system. “Our efforts will effectively wipe out the incentive to steal smartphones and curb this crime of convenience, which is fueling street crime and violence within our communities,” Sen. Mark Leno, who introduced the bill, said in a statement. 67. According to the passage, Apple is offering a new tool _______. A. to promote its advanced technology over other brands B. to monitor the function of an iPhone, iPad, and iPod C. to teach its users how to lock down and unlock their devices D. to try to reduce the stealing and selling cases of the devices of Apple 68. But now some of them are bringing back rationing(定量供应). As you might expect, it's all part of a plan to make us spend more, not less. [2] Butter, bacon, sugar, tea and meat were rationed in Britain during World War II, because goods at that time were scarce, and hard to get for all. But nowadays industrial mass production           . Factories all over the world are pumping out bright and beautiful objects. [3] When everyone has to wait and save up for new things, owning them feels exciting and special. But when lovely things are available every day, they stop being a treat. The other characteristic of consumer society is that we aim for social distinction through what we own. But if everyone has lots of things, how can we impress anyone with our purchases? All of this takes the fun out of shopping and means there's a limit to how much consumerism can grow. [4] This is deeply worrying to companies, and some of them have started to fight it, by creating artificial scarcity(短缺). For example, Swedish rapper Adam Tensta has limited access to his latest track. Only one person at a time can access it, and fans must take their place in a digital queue. [5] This hend means we can again own something rare. But the risk for these companies is that in a world of so many things, if they make their products too hard to get, we'll just buy from someone else instead. 76. What is the text mainly about?
