Learning objectives 1.Enable students to master the new vocabulary and phrases in the vocabulary list;Help students infer the meanings of some words and phrases according to the context. 2.Help students understand the passage, get the main information and can read the related articles. 3. Enable students to write short passageson transportation. 4. Enable students to talk about transportation problem and give their own opinions. II. Emotional goals * To catch on the transportation development in the big cities * Enhance environmental awareness and sense of social morality * ply with traffic rules to enhance the awareness of students Teaching difficult points ● Ask students to know the transportation theme. ● Master the usage of “make sure”and “worth” Teaching focus ★ Master the new vocabulary and phrases in the passage ★ Help students improve the reading speed, help students get information, analyse information and solve problems Teaching procedures Step one: Greetings (1minutes) (设计意图:增进师生间的感情,活跃课堂气氛) Step two: Leading in (4 minutes) (设计意图:为进入正文的学习做好铺垫工作,让学生渐渐进入话题) T: Hello, boys and girls! Have you ever been to Beijing? If ever, please tell me how to get around in Beijing .If not, just imagine. I think you’d better discuss the question in groups and then tell me the answers by your group leaders. S: Discuss… Say out their answers. (设计意图:锻炼学生说的能力和培养学生团体合作意识) Step three: Pre-reading (5 minutes) (设计意图:让学生带着问题去阅读,提高阅读的针对性,从而培养学生在做阅读理解题的技巧) T: Ok,before you read the passage,please read the questions on page 13. (After a while) Are you ready ? Now, please read the passage. Step four: Reading 1. Speed Reading(7 minutes) (设计意图:锻炼学生快速阅读的能力,提高学生的阅读速度和获取文章大意的能力,完成目标2) Task: read the passage quickly and find out the main idea of each paragraph.. 2. Details Reading (15 minutes) (设计意图:通过该部分的阅读让学生获取主要信息,摘录要点,并能根据上下文推断词汇短语的意义,完成目标1) T: Read the passage in detail, underline the new words and phrases and pay attention to the lause after “make sure”and conclude the usage of this phrase. S: Read. Do as they are told. T: Ok,who would like to tell us the usage of “make sure”. Volunteers? S: Say out his or her own opions. (设计意图:通过学生自己的总结,攻克难点“ make sure”的用法) T: Ok,let us slook at the word “worth”and “worthy” be worth doing =be worthy of being done =be worthy to be done Please fill in the blank: 1. The book is worthy ___________.(to be read) (设计意图:通过老师的讲解和学生的练习攻克难点worth的用法) T: Work in groups and finish the questions on page 13 (match the words in the box with their meanings) S: Discuss the words. Finish the exercise. Read the whole passage loudly. Step five: Discussion (4 minutes ) ( 设计意图:通过学生自己的活动巩固词汇,完成目标4) Task : Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each means of transport using the words and phrases in this passage. Step six: Conclusion (1 minute) (设计意图:总结梳理本堂课所学知识) Step seven: Homework (2minutes) Try to write an article on “Getting around in your hometown” (设计意图:通过让学生以“在你的家乡旅游”为话题写一篇短文,锻炼学生的写作能力,完成目标3)
