person,Confidential,Preface,The purpose of this document is to specify Toshiba specific requirements to the,BT/WLAN/WiMax/3G/LTE,Antenna for Toshiba notebook PCs.Since this document describes specific topics only and does not cover all the requirements completely,parties must confirm other requirements that are not described in this document with Toshiba.,This document contains Toshiba confidential information.Parties should agree to handle this document with care.,Confidential,Antenna Requirements(BT Antenna,),Selection of Antenna,The Antenna must be chosen from the list,shown on this document.ODM shall select other vendors antennas if ODM can obtain the regulatory approval with the module to be used.In this case,ODM must discuss with Toshiba in advance.The ODM or Antenna vendor shall do the antenna tuning.,If module with built-in antenna is used,the built-in Antenna shall be used as is.,Criteria Antenna performance,Coverage of Antenna should be,In 2.4-2.5GHz,=60%against-8dBi gain.,The calculation of coverage shall be done as below.,Measure the Vavg_gain,Havg_gain of BT antenna on the PC in Azimuth surface having the LCD opened,Calculate the area that the measured gain(Vavg_gain&Havg_gain)exceeds the required antenna gain(-8dBi).(Refer to the picture below),VSWR=80%against-10.5dBi gain for 2x2 Antennas,In 2.400-2.497GHz,=100%against-10.5dBi gain for 3x3 Antennas,In 5.150-5.825GHz,=70%against-9.19dBi gain for 2x2 Antennas,In 5.150-5.825GHz,=90%against-9.19dBi gain for 3x3 Antennas,The calculation shall be done as below,Measure the Vavg_gain,Havg_gain of each antenna on the PC in Azimuth surface having the LCD opened,Calculate the area that the measured gain(of all antennas)exceeds the required antenna gain,VSWR=-3.5dB(44.7%):for Main,=-5dB(31.6%):for AUX,In 2.300GHz-2.400GHz(if supported),=-3.9dB(40.7%):for Main,=-5dB(31.6%):for AUX,In 3.300GHz-3.800GHz(if supported),=-4.4dB(36.3%):for Main,=-5dB(31.6%):for AUX,Antenna peak gain,For Japan model 2dBi,For Rest of the models-4dB,The directivity is preferred to be upward when the LCD is opened(at 110 degree),Antenna Efficiency dB,*Support Band8(900MHz)for US model as well,but meeting the spec.is not mandatory,Confidential,Antenna Requirements(WWAN(3G)Antenna),Required Data(which must be submitted to Toshiba),Submit Efficiency of each band of frequency,Submit the peak gain of each band of frequency,Others,Recommended cable length is 400mm 500mm,If cable length is longer than 500mm,achieving the required performance might be difficult.,if the module is located near by the hinge that cable length shall be shortened,Cable should be routed avoiding possible noise sources on the system.,Selection of Antenna,The Antenna shall be chosen from the list,shown on this document or ODM shall select other vendors antennas.,Criteria for Antenna performance,The following table shows the criteria for 3G/LTE antenna performance.There are 2 regions.ODM should confirm with Toshiba which region should be supported.,If GPS is supported with 3G/LTE module,the AUX Antenna must support GPS band as well,The efficiency at GPS band should be-4dB,The directivity is
