1. The meaning of occupation
In my eyes, the occupation is a way to make money to support the whole family. Meanwhile, it can help me realize my dream and the value of my life.
When we were admitted by a university, we’re supposed to make a decision on majoring in one profession. Then we should make every effort to learn it without hesitation. After four years college learning, we would have obtained some abilities which we can use to find an ideal job. There is no doubt that everyone wants an ideal job which means a good social status and an enviable income. We believe all of these will make our lives better.
One of the most important problems a young person faces is deciding what to do. There’re some people, of course, who from the time they are six years old “know” they want to be doctors or pilots or fire fighters, but the majority of us don’t get around to making a decision about an occupation or career until somebody or something forces us to face the problem.
Choosing an occupation takes time, and there’re a lot of things you have to think about as you try to decide what you will have to take special courses to qualify for a particular kind of work, or you may find out that you’ll need to get actual work experience to gain enough knowledge to qualify for a particular job.
Fortunately, there’re a lot of people you can turn to for advice and help in making your decision. At most universities, there’re teachers who can professionally qualified to give you detailed information about job qualifications. And you can talk over your idea with family members and friends who are always ready to listen and to offer suggestions.

2. The types of occupation
The people in the school：teacher, schoolmaster, etc.
The people in the hospital: doctor, nurse, anesthetist, etc.
The people in the entertainment circle: artist, singer, dancer, actor, magician, writer, director, etc.
The people in society: trash man, official, driver, designer, lawyer, inquisitor, police, fire fighter, pilot, reporter, etc.

3. The present tendency of occupation
Nowadays, more and more people find it difficult to find a job, actually, an ideal job. After all, there are quantities of job in society. Some graduated college students have grandiose aims but puny abilities. Therefore, they always complain that the employment tendency is so severe that they couldn’t find an ideal job.
So, many senior college students have no choice but to take part in the entrance exams for postgraduate universities. Because a postgraduate student is obviously better than a graduate student in many aspects.
It’s believed that the official of the government is the best job in society. But there are many other occupations also have a good social status and a good income.

4. My choice of occupation
When it comes to my choice of occupation, I’ll frankly tell you that I have no interest in software engineering. If I’m free to make my choice again, I would value doctor over any other job else without hesitation. The reasons are as follows；
Firstly, my parents and I all agree that I should have majored in medical science in the university.
Secondly, I have been interested in medical science for many years. Even in the past, I strongly believed I would become a doctor in the future. The reason why I choose the Xidian University and the software engineering is that I got a low score in the college entrance examination and I couldn’t find an ideal medical university.
Last but not least, I have a dream to save people’s lives and relieve people’s pains. Being a doctor, though tired and difficult, I not only can raise my family, but I also can make contributions to the public and society.
At last, I want to quote a saying of Marx, the greatest philosopher in the world. “When we choose the occupation, we’re supposed to follow the way to make the human happy and make ourselves prefect.”
