with a girl;the fourth part is about October in,laos,.Both the two parts appear in the listening passage;the fifth part is about on the road to,laos,and,the sixth part is about the end of the journey.The last two parts appear in the workbook as supplementary reading materials.,lesson one Reading,comprehention,Teaching aims and requirements,1.to improve the students reading skills and speed,especially the skills of summarizing,word guessing and scanning.,2.Help students underline some important words,expressions,and sentence patterns,and analyze difficult sentences if not?where would u most like to travel?why is that?Have u ever tried any adventure travel in your life?What would u do to make preparations for your exploratory travel?Then let students discuss the situation in warming up:Imagine that you live in Qinghai Province.you have got a good job and you plan to spend a holiday with a friend somewhere in Southeast Asia.Choose three places to visit and find out the one-way fare to get there for different kinds of transport.The,important thing is to get students to carry on conversations in pairs using the present continuous tense to express planned actions in the immediate future.,2.Talk about the rivers around the world.If the students happen to live near a river,ask them to consider its role in their own lives.If not,ask,ss,to share how they felt when they saw a river or heard about it.The students will probably recognize the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers and those in their hometowns but may have difficulty naming others.we may use a map to general idea of the whole passage(the topic).The purpose of this step is to improve the students reading speed and train the students skills of grasping important information.Actually this reading passage is the first part of the travelogue.It offers the background about the bike trip,especially the planning that went into it.This part also introduces students to the four young people who made the trip:Wang Kun,the writer of the journal and his sister,Wang,Wei,and their cousins Dao,Wei,and Yu Hang.This section also introduces students to many of the geographical terms they will use throughout the other five parts of the travelogue.,Step 4.Deep reading,let,ss,read the passage again,and try to find more details.Then do exercises on P 19 ex 1,2,3.In exercise 1,there are six questions,ex 2 let the students list the countries that the Mekong river flows through.These two exercises are all related to some detail information of the passage.Let students read the passage again,then answer ex 1,2.As for ex3.Its about the attitudes of Wang,wei,and Wang Kun about the trip.This exercise can help train students grasp the intention or attitude of author,Let students work in
