We’ve received your letter of 9th February, asking us to send you a shipment (delivery) of Tea Set for sale on D/A term.

As is known to all (As everyone knows), our payment must be made against sight draft drawn under a confirmed, irrevocable Letter of Credit for the amount. (Our terms of payment must be made by confirmed, irrevocable L/C by draft at sight for the amount). Therefore we regret we cannot accept your request. But in view of your goodwill of pushing the sale of our products, we can exceptionally accept the payment by L/C at 60 days’ sight draft.

Dear Sirs,

Re: L/C 1234 issued by London Bank

We have received the captioned Letter of Credit for the amount of ￡2 500 covering your Order No. 215 for 8 metric tons Walnutmeat. It appears that the amount in your L/C is insufficient, as the correct total CIF value of your orders comes to ￡2 960 instead of ￡2 500 the difference being ￡4 600.

In view of the above, please increase the amount of your L/C by ￡460.00. On receipt of your amendment we shall arrange shipment without fail.
