Analysis of the teaching material
This text is a speaking course. It mainly talks about shopping.
Analysis of the students
1. Students’ speaking abilities are somewhat poor.
2. They are cooperative and can be activated.
3. They are eager to express their own ideas.
Teaching aims
A. Knowledge aims:
a. Ss will be able to understand and use the following words and expressions:
golden, several, within, complete, indeed, kilometer.
b. Ss will be able to understand the following words:
on sale, indeed, look for, take.
c. Ss will be able to understand the following structures:
Can I help you?
How much is the…?
What’s the price of…?
What about…?
B. Ability aims:
Develop student’s listening and speaking abilities.
C. Moral aims:
Enable the students to be a wise customer.
Teaching important points
a. Ss will able to understand some expressions for shopping.
b. Ss will be able to understand the conversation.
c. Ss will be able to buy something in English.

Enable the students to choose the ideal items when shopping.

Purpose
Step 1 Warming-up and lead in
1. Presentation time as before and give evaluation.
2. Guessing games:
Easy ones: I will show the students some pictures and let them guess how much the products are.
Difficult ones: I will show other pictures and let them say the different prices.
Ss will be able to relax themselves and get the memories of shopping. They will be able to know the expression of price and get ready for their talking about shopping.
Step 2 Presentation
Different products have different prices. Teacher will show a short dialogue on asking price of a T-shit. Ask the Ss to read it and make similar dialogues according to the given information.
Then teacher will give them a question:
How much were these items on double11.
Model:
A: Can I help you?
B: ….
A: What about…? B: It's …and ….
To enable the students to simply talk about shopping, and grasp the way of asking prices.
Step 3 Listening
Teacher will play the tape and ask Ss to finish the questions:
1. What’s Did Joy buy?
2. How much is it?
Deal with some new words and expressions that are difficult to understand so that Ss can understand the conversation more easily.
Step 4 Reading
1. Read the dialogue quickly and then fill the form.

2. Read after the tape and try to imitate.
Ss can get more information and understand the dialogue better.
Step5 Language in use
1. Find everyday English in the dialogue.
2.Try to finish the exercise in Everyday English Use
Enable Ss to fully understand the useful English expression.
Step 6 Post-reading (group-work)
Role-play
Christmas is coming, Lily wants to buy some gifts for her family (grandparents, parents, elder/younger sister/brother) and her friends.
Suppose the classroom is a shopping mall, and each group is a department. Choose some Ss to be acted as customers. And each group also has shop assistants.
The dialogue may like this:
A: Can I help you?
B: I’m looking for a Christmas gift for my…?
A: What about…?
B: It’s too…
A: And how about…?
B:…
Ss will be able to choose the product they want.
Have Ss work in groups.
Step 7 Homework
• Level A:
1. Finish the exercise book section B.
2.Read the conversation fluently
• Level B:
1. Finish the exercise book section B. 2. Recite the conversation.
Consolidate the knowledge they’ve learnt today.
Improve Ss’ speaking abilities, and encourage them to talk.
