The First Debater:
Good afternoon everyone!
Cities are settlements based on non-agricultural industries and non-agricultural population. Countryside is an area based on agricultural industry including natural economy and the first industry, a variety of farms such as livestock and aquaculture ['ækwəkʌltʃə(r)] and forest production areas, horticulture ['hɔrtɪ,kʌltʃɚ] and vegetable production areas.
With the continuous progress of industrialization, people began to unconsciously ignore the existence of countryside. However, from the perspective of our side, we keep firmly the opinion that people are much happier living in the countryside than in the city. The reasons are as follows:
To begin with, the amazing and breathtaking pastoral ['pæstərəl] landscape and natural scenery that only owed by the countryside may be the vital and decisive factor to keep the majority of rural people continuing living in the countryside without migrating to cities. As we all know, the modernization brings not only the civilization progress to us but also the unavoidable damage to the natural environment for human activities, which is especially active in the cities. All indicators of the cities’ environment, such as the Particulate [pɚ'tɪkjə,let] Air Pollution, Electromagnetic：[i'lektrəumæg'netik] Radiation Pollution, Automobile exhaust pollution are fairly excessive compared with the countryside’s, thus people in cities can seldom enjoy a healthy and positive living conditions.
Besides, in the countryside, people can also enjoy the deep human touch by chatting, by visiting each other now and then, by working out group by group, while the people in cities have no choice but to be a lonely commuter day after day year after year, thus also making the relationship between them more and more estranged. There is a survey among 7 cities showing that people’s average expense on their fare for their commute every month even reach 375 yuan, which takes 12.5 percent of their income; also in 2008, the rush hour in Nanjing extended from 3.5 hours to 5 hours and the average speed of automobile is 20 kilometers per hour. It really reflects the heavy traffic and overburdened transportation, which discourages people to live in cities.
In addition, there is also a indispensable reason should be responsible for the happiness derived from the countryside; people in countryside may hardly go to the supermarket but their daily diet is relatively healthy and secure for which their food is green food and their water is derived from the ground. In the meantime, the sudden outbreak of transmitted disease disaster can sweep down the city easily but the countryside otherwise, for its relatively remote location and the infrequent exchange with the outside.
To sum up, we maintain quite firmly the view that people are happier living in the countryside than the cities, owing to its quiet, friendly and harmonious environment and tight relationship among neighbors and the freedom of going around and working and the less chance of picking up some disease.

1. Could you deny that people living in a more natural rather than a noisy environment tend to have a merry mood, or could you deny that the countryside can certainly satisfy people’s requirement of environment easily?
In cities, the poor air quality, the invisible Electromagnetic Radiation Pollution can be distressing and the sandstorm could be a disaster for people’s respiratory [rɪ'spaɪrə,torɪ] health.
2. Have you ever heard that the heavy traffic in countryside or have you heard that the red light keeps drivers waiting for more than 60 minutes every day? The survey mentioned above shows that we should be faster if we replace our cars with bikes or even our feet.
The traffic on the roads in countryside is more convenient and whenever you want to leave for some places the transportation is very easy without considering the holiday time or the daily in cities.
3. The population of cities can create a series of problems while the countryside is otherwise.
For example, the high rate of crime and the larger possibility of suffering from disease.
4. Some related data shows that the house rate in cities can be 10 times higher than in countryside. Would you prefer a place where you are worried about your house every minute?
5. When a sudden disaster occurred, people in the cities may easily get into panic and unfortunately make the rescue more difficult. Would you prefer the spare distribution countryside or the unsafe cities?
6. When you are concentrating on your job or your classes in the office or the class and a unexpected phone call or message or when you are walking in the street a salesman try to persuade you to buying something, how do you feel this?
Today the litter-messages are littered everywhere; in the street there are all sort of “niupixuan” ads; people wouldn’t have a good mood.
7. In the cities, people should make an exact plan on their daily expense. When you are at home the visitors are the tariff collection or the water collection, would you feel upset or even annoyed?
In countryside, people needn’t have to worry about that their daily expense would exceed their daily wage and so of course they will prefer more in the countryside.
8. When you are living in cities, you will be easily tired of the profit-first atmosphere.
9. In countryside, you can go around everywhere free of charge, however, in cities even some parks are inaccessible unless you are charged.
10. In cities, people can hardly stand the rapid pace and the tremendous stress coming from their jobs and their life. Will you be happier there?
11. In our country, as we all know, the government has put forward series of policy to enhance the life level in countryside. It is reported that the area reaching a better-off life standard takes more than 90% by 2010 in Shanghai. Does it matter to people’s happiness that the life standard in cities is a bit higher than in countryside?
12. Since 2006 our country has canceled the “xuezhafei” tuition policy, and it really carries out the 9-year compulsory education, does it make any difference on education in the countryside or the cities?
13. The system of rural cooperative medical and health care services has offered great convenience for the countryside. They can stay at home and enjoy the preferential policy rather than live in cities and struggle with the high fee in the hospital. Are you willing and happy to pay the higher medical fee?
14. Nowadays over the home appliances going to the countryside, people in the countryside can have an easy access to the Internet, the MDTV, the heating installation and air-conditioning and so on. Do you think it is very comfortable in the countryside nowadays?
15. As some data shows, since 1920 the area of countryside in the western country is becoming larger and larger, and during 1990’s the trend has become a high tide, besides, many millionaires prefer to locate their villa in the rural area. Is the countryside a better choice for people’s living?

Now please let me come to sum up the debating. Today’s topic is “People are happier living in countryside than living in cities”. As my Teammate Zhang said, what countryside we talk about today is the modernized countryside with Infrastructural facilities built. On the basis of this countryside, we come to today’s debate.
Rents are high; buying a house of your own for average people is impossible. The cost of living is higher in big cities. Can you imagine that you cost 20 going to change time of a set of dwelling house? Can you imagine the endless job being in progress day in and day out? Can you imagine endless but dull traffic condition?
We know the big city has a lot of recreation facilities, but as for many people these recreation facilities do not all belong to them.
However, there have some problems that we can’t ignore.
First of all, the environment of countryside has an advantage over the cities’.
Secondly, Popularize with the fact that infrastructural facilities such as development of rural area, medical treatment education already begins 
In addition, Contaminating as for long-term angle, going on a punitive expedition to really, habitancy pressure is enormous wait to now have a factor, the balance protecting the environment and regenerate angle as far as value is concerned , the rural area habitancy general is long-term, the science choice .
