1a Thinking about complaining
What does it mean to complain?
“Complain” means: express complaints, discontent, displeasure, or unhappiness; "My mother complains all day"; "She has a lot to kick about"
make a formal accusation; bring a formal charge; "The plaintiff's lawyer complained that he defendant had physically abused his client"
In general use, a complaint is an expression of displeasure, such as poor service at a store, or from a local government, for example.
1b Doing groupwork
Have you any things in life to complain about? Now could you list them in groups of four?
The robot is boring. The paper breaks easily. There are too fewer desks in the classroom. Trees are too few here. Pollution is found everywhere. I live alone in the building. Pets are missing.
I have to go far to go skating. She can’t dress herself. The future is hard to predict. My dream never comes true. My company pays me too little. The textbook is too simple. My toothbrush is gone. I have too much housework. There are too many earthquakes here. It is difficult to keep the strangers out.

3a Reading and circling
On page 56 is an article named I can’t stand it! Would you mind reading it and underline the things that annoy people, and circle what people do when annoying things happen?
Now you will go to read the story again. While reading it for the second time, try to blacken the predicates and darken the connectives.
