5. door(n) 门；gate(n) 大门，门口
eg. The school has a gate between the yard and the road.

6. plant（1）(n)植物；（2）(v)种植，培养
eg. Trees and vegetables are plants.
树和蔬菜是植物。
Tree Planting Day is on March,12.
植树节在3月12日。
7. use（1）(n)使用，利用，用途。有用短语：make use of 利用，使用；（2）(v)使用。有用短语：use up用光；use sth for/ use sth to do 用某物来做……

2. put(v) 摆，放
几个有用的短语：
put on 穿上 put away 将……收起，放回原处
put up 举起，张贴，挂上 put down 放下
eg. He put the cups on the table.

Put up/ down your hands.
举起/放下你们的手。
He put on his clothes.

3. key（n）钥匙，答案，关键。固定短语：the key to………的关键、答案
eg. My keys are on the table.
我的钥匙在桌子上。

4. bank(n) 银行,（河，海，湖的）岸，堤
eg. China Construction Bank 中国建设银行
There is a big tree on the bank of the river.

5. piggy（1）猪形储钱罐；（2）小猪
eg. We are little piggies, we like eating cabbage.
我们是小猪，我们喜欢吃卷心菜。
There are a few coins near the piggy.

eg. a model of an airplane 飞机模型

四. 归纳总结：方位词知多少
in在……里面，在……内部 on在……上面，一般指紧挨表面
over在……之上，一般指在物体的正上方
beside在……旁边 behind在……后面
in front of在……之前 in the front of在……的前部
under在……之下 near在……附近
next to挨着，相邻 close to靠近……

例1. 句型转化
My house is next to the post office.

答案：is, close, to

例2. 填空
My mother is _____ the house. She is planting the tree.
A. in front of B. in the front of C. before
解析：本题的意思是“妈妈在房子的前面，她在种树。” in front of 在……之前/前面；in the front of 在……的前部；before在……之前，一般指时间或顺序，所以不适合用来表方位。很显然，正确答案是A。

例3. My study is on ______ floor.
A. the second B. second C. a few seconds
解析：这句话的意思是我的书房在二楼。由于“second”是一个多义词，我们先判断出符合这个选项的词义，应该是A和B选项，在第几层属于序数词的用法，所以在“second”前要加定冠词，由此断定正确答案为A。

解析：这句话的意思是在花园里有许多植物。由于plant这个词有两个词性，名词为植物的意思；动词为种植的意思，所以只要将plant这个词加复数形式就可以了，正确答案应为C。
