1. He acts as if he doesn’t love us at all.
as if = as though 好像，似乎
①用在look, smell, taste, sound, walk后面，议论可能、真实的事情。
② 用虚拟语气, 表示说话人认为句子所述的是不真实的或极少有可能发生或存在的情况。
③ 可以跟不定式连用或分词连用。
Practice:

insist v. 坚持要求; 坚决认为

①作不及物动词时，后跟on/upon引起的短语, insist on + n. / v-ing
e.g. He insists on a definite answer.
They insist on/ upon my staying at home.
②作及物动词，接从句作宾语。
1) insist 表示“坚持要求，一定要”时，从句常用与现在现实相反的虚拟语气，谓语动词用should + 动词原形, should可省略。
2) insist 表示“坚决认为”时，用陈述语气。

suggest vt.
1) 表示“暗示，表明，使联想起” 时后面可跟名词或从句。
2) 表示“建议，提议”可以接名词，v-ing形式或由疑问词how / where / what 等引导的从句作宾语。 Suggest sth. to sb. / suggest doing / (注意：建议某人做某事advise sb. to do sth.)
3) suggest后还可以接that从句，从句中的谓语动词要用虚拟式，即 (should) + 动词原形,should 可以省略。
Practice:
The smile on his face suggests that he is pleased with my answer.
He suggests taking a walk by the river.
Can you suggest how we might solve he problem?
He suggested we_______(give) the answers to the students after they think for a while.

e.g. He’s studying music in his spare time.

拓展:
spare 还可以作动词，表示“抽出，匀出（时间，金钱等）”
常用结构：spare sth/sb (for sb/sth)
e.g. Could you spare me a few minutes?
Can you spare one of your staff to help us out?

常用结构：forbid doing sth. forbid sb to do sth/ forbid sb from doing

词组：harm one’s image/reputation 损害某人的形象，名声
do harm to/ be harmful to 损害….
辨析 harm, hurt ,injure, wound
harm: 使人受到伤害，常用于抽象名词
hurt: 可指肉体上的伤害，更多用于情感上的伤害。
injure: 指在事故中受到的伤害
wound: 用于枪，刀，剑等武器对身体造成的伤害
Practice:

Difficult sentences:

has been refusing 是现在完成进行时，表示从过去某一时刻开始到现在为止一直在发生或反复进行的动作，并还有可能继续下去。
