37、ngofanewerainChinesehistory.TheCPCreinstatedDengXiaoping,previouslygeneralsecretaryoftheCPC,inallthePartyandgovernmentalpostshehadbeendismissedfromduringthe“culturalrevolution.”In1979,Chinainstitutedaguidingpolicyof“reformandopeningtotheoutsideworld”underDengsleadership,andthefocuswasshiftedtomodern
38、ization.DengXiaopingShenZhenMajoreffortsweremadetoreformtheeconomicandpoliticalsystems.ChinawasstepbystepestablishingaroadwithChinesecharacteristics,aroadthatwouldleadtosocialistmodernization.ProfoundchangeshavecomeaboutinChinasincethecountryembarkedonthepolicyofreformandopening-up.Thesituationinthecountryisthebestever,characterizedbyaswiftlyandvigorouslyadvancingeconomyandmarkedlyimprovedlivingstandard.
