I will go to college in the near future. After I enter college,I plan to set new goals in my study and improve my way of learning. What’s more,as I am away from my parents,it is necessary for me to learn to live on my own, such as doing some washing and cleaning by myself. In my spare time,I will take part in different kinds of school activities, for example,I will often go to the English Corner to practice my spoken English. In addition,I need to get along well with my classmates and teachers at college. I think I will have a wonderful college life.
听力材料:
Text 1
原文:M: John is called a daydreamer. However, I think he has come up with a lot of good ideas.
W: Anyhow, good ideas need practising.
Text 2
原文:M: If you grab the towels, I’ll get the sunglasses.
W: Okay. Do you have everything else you need? A bathing suit? Your surfboard?
M: Yes, everything’s in the car already. I also packed some sandwiches in case we’re hungry later.
Text 3
原文:M: That’s such a nice shirt, Sally. It looks like it might be quite expensive.
W: It may look expensive, but it only cost 20 at the department store.
M: I usually buy my clothing online. Maybe I will go there next time.
Text 4
原文:M: How could I be so stupid? The answer was right in front of me and I still put the wrong one. Of course a blue whale is larger than an elephant!
W: It will be fine. You still passed the test. Your parents will not be angry with you.
M: I know, but I really wanted that perfect score so my parents would be proud. It was the only question I got wrong.
Text 5
原文:W: I’m gonna throw out this ugly dress! I don’t even remember why I bought it in the first place!
M: Well, it’s such a beautiful material. Just get it to a tailor. A few changes will make it lovely.
Text 6
原文:W: This is Emma Restaurant.
M: Hi, I would like to make a dinner reservation under the name of Conrad Jones.
W: OK. How many people are there in your party?
M: I’m going with my wife and my twin daughters. Oh, I nearly forget that my mother also comes with us.
W: OK. Mr. Jones, when would you like to come?
M: I need the reservation for this weekend at 8:00.
W: Sorry. I can only seat you at 8:30 on Saturday, and at 7:30 on Sunday.
M: Let me see. Then the Sunday night is fine.
W: OK, no problem.
Text 7
原文:W: Are you all alone, Tom? Why not ask Mike to help you collect money for the Children’s Centre?
M: Well, he’s working on his lab report. Could you come?
W: I’d love to, but I won’t be available until next week. I think Cathy will have some free time this week. Do you want me to pass on a message?
M: That’d be nice. Thanks, Jane.
Text 8
原文:W: Are you leaving for the railway station now, Jack? It’s so early.
M: Just avoiding the rush hour traffic. I don’t want to be late.
W: So you have to wait for about two hours? I don’t think there’s scenery to look at.
M: Don’t worry! I’ll take a book with me.
W: It’s too noisy to read in the railway station. I would usually look around the shops while waiting for the train.
M: But I’ve already got all the gifts for my parents and sisters. I don’t need to buy anything. If I really can’t focus on the book, I may phone up some friends I haven’t talked to in a while.
W: That’s a nice idea. Betty told me last time that she often spent the waiting time writing a to-do list so that she’d not miss anything in the days to come.
M: That’s an awesome idea. I’ll surely do that. Thank you, Judy. See you next year.
W: Bye!
Text 9
原文:M: Good morning. My name’s Frank. I’ve just retired and moved to the community. I’d like to become a volunteer, and I guess you are in charge of the voluntary work here.
W: That’s right.
M: What sort of thing could I do?
W: Well, we need help with the library. We borrow books from the city library. So, one thing you could do is get involved in collecting them.
M: That’s no problem.
W: Another thing is the records that we keep of the books we’re given. It would be very useful to have another person to help keep the records up to date.
M: Right. I can do that. Do you run a lunch club in the community for elderly people?
W: Yes, we have a very successful club.
M: I could help with transport, if that’s of any use.
W: That’ll be nice. People come to the club from neighboring communities, and we’re always in need of more drivers.
M: What about help for individual residents?Do you arrange that at all?
W: Yes. In fact, there’s Mrs. Carroll. She needs a lift to the hospital next Monday.
Text 10
原文:Hi, Cathy, this is Pitt. I heard that during the Chinese Spring Festival holiday you won’t go back to your hometown in the States and will go to Germany for some traveling and then come back to China. I’m leaving you this voice message to invite you to come to our family’s Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner, say, on Feb. 4. My mother and I will start making dumplings around 4 p.m. and we’ll probably start having dinner at 6 p.m. If you’re interested in making dumplings, feel free to join us at 4 p.m. I’m afraid there will be very few buses or taxis running tomorrow afternoon. My father is happy to pick you up from your place. Just send me your address and tell me when you can come. After dinner, we will watch some Spring Festival shows on TV. The most interesting show starts at around 8 p.m. We usually stay up very late, so don’t worry about staying too long. Just let me know when you want to go back to your place. Looking forward to your earliest reply.
