Teaching objectives:
1.Knowledge Objectives:
⑴ Learning the sentences that describe what people are seeing in the zoo..
⑵Learning the sentences that describe what animals can do.
2.Ability Objectives:
⑴ Students can understand the text by using the sentence
"What are they doing? They are doing…".
⑵ Students can write a short passage with the key sentences.
Teaching contents:
1.Words: nature , park, climber
2.Sentence:"What are they doing?
They are doing…".
3.Text: In a nature park.
Teaching points and difficulties:
1.Use “be doing” to describe what you see now.
2. Use can to describe what the animals can do.
3. Improve reading and writing skills

Teaching steps:
Step 1 Warm-up:
Let’s sing a song.
Walking,walking,

Jump,jump,jump!

(本步骤的设计目的在于活跃课堂气氛的同时引导学生复习动词的现在分词,为即将开始的新课架设铺垫。)
Step 2 Presentation
Task 1 Play a guessing game.
First, teacher shows some pictures about the part of the animals, then students guess what the animals they are.
Next, teacher asks students some questions about the animals’ abilities.
eg: Can the pandas climb?
Yes, they can!
They are good climbers!
Help students know how to change verbs to nouns, like climb---climber
Then, show other pictures about this kind of animals, lead students to describe what the animals are doing now.
eg: What are they doing?
They are climbing trees.
Task 2 Pair work
Discussing what the animals are doing in the pictures.
(本步骤的设计目的在于通过猜猜看的游戏吸引学生进入新知,通过猜熊猫、兔子、老虎等学生比较熟悉的动物来引导学生运用所学过的句型来谈论动物,帮助学生复习情态动词can的用法及复习现在进行时的构成,同时帮助学生了解一部分职业名词的构成为阅读课文扫清障碍。)
Step3:Reading
1. Pre-reading.
T: One Sunday morning, three girls find something interesting to watch, can you tell
me what they are looking at?
Yes, they are looking at a big nature park.
Task 3 Group work.
Work in four to talk about what you can see and what they are doing in the picture.
(本步骤的设计目的是通过展示两张图片来呈现自然公园里的各种动物,让学生小组活动自由谈论动物在动物园的生活,进一步掌握情态动词can及现在进行时的运用,同时学习新词组a nature park, 为阅读课文做好铺垫。 )
2. While-reading.
1) Listen and answer.
Listen to the tape, and answer a question “Do they see any anmials?”
2) Scan and fill in.
Scan the text ,then fill in the blanks:
animals
doing
tigers
climbing trees
3) Pair work
Read the text loudly, ask and answer in pairs.
What are the tigers doing?
What are the pandas doing?
4) Act it out
Practice the conversation by three students in 3 minutes, then act it out.
(本步骤的设计目的是设置四个环节来让学生自主学习课文。 通过由听引入、再到快速阅读完成表格,接着是大声朗读来两人回答问题,再到最后的角色扮演,通过活动设置的层层递进,由易到难,让学生自主完成阅读任务。同时,对于表演优秀组会给予适当奖励,鼓励学生充分展现自我,发现自我。)
Step 4: Writing
1. Look and answer.
Teacher shows a picture of two birds with three questions, ask students to write down the answers.
Q: What can you see?
Are they cute?
What are they doing?
2. Mix and match
The beginning of the short passage has been given, the students need to complete the rest with the answers.
eg: Welcome to the nature park.
There are so many animals.
I can see two birds.
They are so cute.
They are flying in the sky.
3. Talk and write
Talk about the animals in groups as much as possible, then write them down.
4. Show and evaluate
Let students read their passage loudly, teacher gives some advice.
(本步骤的设计目的是为了让每个学生都能动笔写作。所以设计了4个环节,由说到片段写作,再到整体创作,最后展示交流,由浅入深,帮助孩子们掌握写作技巧,学会简单的英语写作。)
Step5: Moral education.
The animals are so cute. We are good friends. We should protect them
(本步骤的设计目的是进行情感教育,爱护环境,保护动物,使学生的内心得到升华)

Write a short passage about your favorite animals.
