When I was asked to do some research on how young people make their way to
adulthood, I would like to keep it on these 18- t0 29-year-olds, because I found they were
so interesting to talk about as emerging adults( 即将成年的年轻人).
One of the most common thoughts about today's emerging adults is that they are lazy.
According to this view, young people like to avoid work whenever possible, preferring to
depend on their parents for as long as they can get away with it. They expect work to be fun,
and if it's not fun, they refuse to do it.
It's true that emerging adults have high hopes for work, and even9 yes, a sense of
so-called just enjoy their work. Ian, a 22-year- old, chose to go into a magazine to be a
reporter), even he knew that if he was a reporter making $20,000 a year, his dad (a wealthy
doctor) makes much more than that. More important than money was finding a job he could
love.
So yes, emergjng adults today have high expectation for work, but they are not lazy.
While they look for their dream job, they. don't just sit around and play video games and
look through their WeChat page all day. Most of them spend their time in a low-paying job
as they search for something better. It's unfair to think them as lazy generation.

D. With low pay, they still always search for something better.
57. The writer might be a _ .
A. researcher B. doctor C. teacher D. housewife

We all want to look smarter than we really are, and there are ways we hide our
disadvantages from others. Some of us like to use big words in our speech, or use long
sentences in our conversations and writing. Some of us like to talk too much or too loudly to
show his confidence. However, not all of these ways work and sometimes they even have
opposite(相反的) effects and make you look stupid.
Researchers found that people trying to look smart had a few behaviors in common.
Among them were looking at others while listening or speaking, sittin8; up straight, putting
on a serious face and avoiding certain movements, such as touching their hair or faces. The
research also showed the smarter people wore a confident expression rather than a poker face,
and spoke clearly in a very pleasant voice, and were also serious about their conversation
partners-nodding, smiling and looking at their eyes.
Some other features can also shape others' first impressions(印象). According to a
study in Swiss Psychology, wearing eyeglasses can lead strangers to regard you as cleverer.
But you may not need glasses if you are beautiful. A Czech study found that certain facial
features-narrow face, long nose, and thin chin-make one look both attractive and smart to
others.
People who try to appear smarter are advised to read classic books, according to The
Atlantic, Of course, if you don't have time to read, watching movies adapted from(改编于)
these classics is also helpful.

I recently reach my 30. For some reason I've not stuck to this idea of it. However as I
began to think about my 20s, I realized how many mistakes I've made and things I've
learned, Here is some advice.
People
People are the best and worst thing that will happen to you. Some will help you go
further, faster. Others will pull you down to help you lose. Most are OK. Many are so-so.
Some are excellent. A few people will change your life forever. Find them.
You don't need a lot of friends or people around you. You need to know they would do
for you as you do for them. It's real that a lot of friends will leave you feeling alone when
you need to feel being cared for by them.
Value Time
Don't waste time on people who you don't trust. Don't waste time with lovers who cheat
you. Don't waste time with friends who don't treat you the way you treat them.
