Learn to use the target sentence patterns to talk about situations that are not true or not likely to become true at present. Difficult and important points 1. Help the students master two structures about the subjunctive mood. 2. Get the students to learn how to use the two structures about the subjunctive mood. Teaching methods: Task-based learning, cooperative learning and pair work. Teaching aids The multimedia and other normal teaching tools Teaching Procedures Step I Lead-in Listen to a song “If I were a boy”. Question 1 : What would you do if you were a boy / a girl? Question 2 : If you were a painter, what would you paint? Step Ⅱ Practice 1. The definition of the subjunctive mood. 2. Three situations about the subjunctive mood. 3. Work out some features of the subjunctive mood. 4. Some exercises about the subjunctive mood. (1) Fill in the blanks. (2)Group competition (multiple choices, error-correction, sentence-completion) Step Ⅲ Pair work: A conversation Step Ⅳ Summary 1. What have we learnt? 2. Why do we learn these two structures? 3. How can we use them? Homework: 1. To write down the dialogue you made in this class. 2. To finish Ex.1 and Ex. 3 on P43 in your workbook.
