Unit4 I want to be an actor l 说教材 The key point of this unit is “talking about jobs”. The design of this unit is mainly to get students to master some English names about jobs and some sentence structures about how to ask one’s occupation and future dreams. This class is the first class of this unit, so it is the basic study, Therefore, students are expected to master some vocabularies about jobs and sentence structures. Try to improve students’ capacities of listening and speaking and be able to communicate with others in English. l 说目标 According to the aims of textbook and the request of the English syllabus, I think the teaching objectives of this class is: 1. The aims of the knowledge a) To master English vocabularies: shop assistant, doctor, reporter, policeman/policeman, waiter/waitress, bank clerk, actor. b) To master sentence structures: What do you do? I’m an actor. What does he/she do? He/she is a doctor. What do you want to be? I want to be a bank clerk. 2. The aims of the skills a) To develop students’ capacities of listening, speaking, reading and writing especially the capacity of speaking. b) To be able to use sentence structures correctly to ask one’s job and future dream. 3. The aims of the affect a) To promote the communication among students, deepen the relationship between students and to stimulate students’ interest of learning English by a serious of interesting activities and tasks. b) To get students to establish their outlook on life correctly, to establish their future dreams and work for it. 4. Learning strategies a) By using “lead in – presentation – practice - product”. b) Pair works. The aim of learning is to learn to talk with others in English, so it is obviously important to train students’ capacity of communication. We can improve students’ those capacities by pair works. l 说学情 The students in grade7 are curious and active. They are looking forward to learning something new and interesting, so the class should be interesting. In addition to, students have some difficulties to learn some expressions about how to ask one’s job. l 说教法 1. Task-Based Learning Teaching. According to the textbook and the features of the students in grade7 are curious and active together with the request of English syllabus, I will mainly use Task-Based Learning Teaching method. I’ll give each group one task and encourage then to finish it. I’ll create a real life environment so that students can make dialogues in the real life environment by using target language. 2. Communicative Language Teaching. Students need to use target language to communicate after learning because learning needs communication. l 说教学程序 Step one: Lead in Task1: Greeting and organizing class. Task2: Lead in Teacher leads in the teaching content of this class by using “I’m a teacher and I work in our school.” And then, tell students some information about my family. Step Two: Presentation Task1: Know the names of the different jobs Learn occupation words” doctor, actor, waiter/waitress, policeman/policewoman, bank clerk, reporter” by showing six pictures which stands for different occupations. And then, students read those words following teacher. Task2: Guess words. Teacher gives some cards to six students and writes down some description about different jobs on each card but do not refer to the word, then students who gets the card reads the description and let other students guess the occupation. For example: I wear a white uniform and I work in the hospital. Sometimes I work in the day and sometimes at night. What do I do?Then, students guess it is doctor. Task3: learn sentence structures It turns to learn sentence structures naturally after learning new words. Draw forth the sentences “what do you do?” and “what does he/she do?” and relevant answers by asking if we want to ask one’s job, how can we ask? Step three: practice Task1: students practice individually Teacher asks one or two students questions, “what do you do?”, “what do you want to be?” and students answer. And then teacher asks some students to answer this question “what does he/she do?” by pointing to different pictures on the blackboard. Task2: pair works Students work in pairs to share some information about their family members’ occupations and make a presentation after 5 minutes. Task3: listening practice Teacher reads a passage to students and students listen carefully, then after listening they should fill in the chart on the blackboard. Passage: My name is Mike. I want to be a doctor in the future, because I think it is interesting. My name is Ann, I’m a bank clerk, but I want to change my job to be a reporter, because to be a reporter is exciting and fun. My name is Bob, I’m a student too. I want to be a businessman, because being a businessman can make me be rich and free. Chart Name present occupation want to be why Mike Ann Bob Step four: product Make a survey Students work in a group of four to make a survey about their teammates’ ideal jobs. They need to write down their ideal jobs, the places that they want to work in and the reasons why they want to do this job. Then make a presentation after5 minutes. Step five: assignment 1. Review the words and sentences we’ve learned today. 2. Write a composition about your ideal job.
