Sept2: Learn to read the new words of Unit 6.
1. Read the new words by themselves.
First get the students to try to read the new words in this unit according to the phonetics given in the vocabulary list and underline the difficulties they meet.
(自学读单词,同时标出自己不会读的单词)
2. Work in groups.
Then give students a few minutes to deal with the problems they have in their pronunciation in groups according to the phonetic symbols. As for some difficult words, teachers should help students correct pronunciation.
(小组讨论如何根据音标读单词,初步解决疑难,确有不会的可向老师寻求帮助。)
3.Solve the problems with the help of the teacher.
① Get individual students to read the new words to the class, the others listen.
② If the students make mistakes while reading the words, the teacher let the students correct pronunciations first .
③ If most of the students can’t read the words correctly, the teacher corrects the mistakes.
④ Let the students read the difficult words.
4. Listen to the tape and read after it.
Get the students to read the words after the tape . Then give them a few more minutes to read all the words quickly to consolidate the pronunciation.(听录音,模仿发音,纠正自己的发音)

(设计意图:运用图画和简单的句子记忆单词,学生易于接受、易于直观地理解单词的意思,印象深刻;也易于促进理解、加深记忆。这样能培养学生用英语思维的习惯,也能减少学生对汉语的依赖,避免孤立地理解和记忆单词。)

(设计意图:根据相同/似读音拼写单词, 能够让学生利用已经学过的单词去识读新单词,也能充分发挥学生的想象力,拓展学生的词汇量。)
3. Remember the words and phrases by compound (合成)and derivative(派生)
(1) Compound (合成): 将两个或两个以上的单词合成在一起而构成的新词
1.moon+ light →moonlight n.月光
2.under+ wear → underwear n.内衣
3. under+ stand → understand v理解
(2) Derivative(派生): 在词根上加前缀或后缀构成另一个词
① step +名词→ 名词/后,继
step + mother → stepmother n. 后母,继母
step+sister→ stepsister n.继姐(妹)
② 名词+ern →形容词
west +ern →western 西方的
east+ ern→eastern 东方的
south +ern → southern 南方的
north+ern→ northern 北方的
③-ess 表示 “女性(人)或雌性(动物)”
prince n. 王子 → princess n. 公主
act v. 表演 → actress n.. 女演员
host n. 主人,男主持人 → hostess n. 女主人,女主持人
(设计意图:依据图片或让学生表演动作学单词能激发学生学习单词的兴趣;依据读音
规则、词的转换,词的派生、合成等构词规则识别单词,可以帮助学生学会系统的记忆
单词且举一反三,极大的扩充词汇量,从而引导学生通过构词法记忆单词,这种方法不
仅能帮助学生扩大词汇量还能将单词记牢,甚至可以去理解未见过的陌生词汇的意思。)
4. Remember the phrases and words by matching the English with the Chinese.

Step4. Consolidate the words and phrases
1.First give the students several minutes to try to memorize the words .
2.Then get the students to read the words by looking at the Chinese, then look at the Chinese and say English.
3. Next get students to work in pairs to spell the words or write down the words with the Chinese given in guide books. Underline the words they haven’t grasped.
(设计意图:此环节为巩固单词环节。通过朗读和使用助学默写、同位互批的方法加以巩固。但仍有少部分的学生不能过关,这就需要利用自习课或课余的时间让小组长跟踪检查,老师督促,达到人人过关。)
Step 5: Memory Challenge
Play games
Game One: Ask the students to say and spell the words according to the picture as soon as possible.
Game Two: Guessing game. Give the words as fast as possible.(闯三关)
(利用幸运摩天轮与单词消失游戏,提高学生记单词的乐趣,又考查学生单词的掌握情况,寓学于乐,并且闯关游戏的难道逐步增加,挑战性较强。)
Step 6. Learn how to use the new words and phrases in a story
Story 1 Yu Gong Moves a Mountains
Once upon a time, there was a man who was old and weak, trying to move the mountains. He and his family was busy moving the stones from the mountains to the sea. A man thought Yu Gong was a little bit silly. But he smiled, saying his family could go on continuing digging after his death. A god was deeply moved . He then sent two gods to take the mountains.
This story reminds us that you can never know what’s possible unless you try to make it happen.
Story 2 Sleeping Beauty
Once upon a time, there lived an emperor and his wife. The couple had a princess. She was kind and beautiful . Later, she was hit by a stick and made a magic. She slept for a hundred years . Lots of princes explored here, but they failed . Many years passed, another prince came here, succeeding in passin the gate and came to Rose Princess. The pretty girl was still sleeping. The prince fell in love with her as soonas he saw her . He kissed her lightly. She woke up, then they got married and lived happily.
1. Ask the Ss to read the stories and try to get the main ideas.
What’s the main ideas? ( story 1) It’s about___________.
( story 2 ) It’s about ______________.
2. Ask the students to read the story silently, and underline the new words and phrases.
3. Ask the students to translate the story into Chinese in pairs.
4. Let the Ss read the story aloud by themselves and prepare for retelling.
5. Help the Ss to make a story of the Emperor’s New Clothes according to the tree.

(设计意图:词不离句,句不离篇。我把本单元的部分词汇编成了两篇小故事,引导学生理解语篇,同时在具体的语境中体会单词和短语的意义。体现了词不离句的教学原则,避免学生孤立记忆,不会使用单词。把故事和知识树结合起来,让学生复述课文既能练习学生的口语也能加深对文章的理解,使学生对词汇从逻辑范畴上记忆词汇。我感觉效果很好。)

本节课亮点:
1. 大多数八年级学生具备读音标识单词的能力,因此在识单词环节,先让学生试读单词,再通过跟读录音,让学生自我纠正一些不准确的发音,最后通过小组互助的方式和老师个别辅导的方式,少部分拼读能力不强的同学也能得到有针对性的帮助。
2. 通过借助图片或让学生表演动作识词、拼读规则识词、依据构词规律识词、同意词汇搭配、语境识词、记忆词块等多种识词方式,既丰富了学生记忆单词的方式,也引导学生懂得并学习如何用多种方式巧记、活记单词。
3. 特别注意引导学生在具体的语境中加强对单词的理解,同时引导学生学会把握篇章大意和篇章结构,并在知识树的帮助下复述故事,从而强化对新词汇的记忆。
4. 家庭作业分层布置,让学习能力强的同学做更能体现他们高水平的作业。
不足之处:
由于八年级学生进入青春期,逆反现象严重。部分学生不愿大声朗读单词,仅仅机械的记忆单词。复述故事环节用的时间长,导致检测仓促。
使用建议:
首先要督促学生做好课前的预习,在平时重视音标和构词法的教学,这样才能更好的提高学生学习单词的能力,为本节的学习做好准备。其次教师课前准备要充分,使用多媒体或交互式一体机 教学,提高课堂效率。最后当堂检测要求学生同位互批,错题小组讨论解决,体现学生的互助合作精神。
