Unit 2 What is the best way to travel?
典案一 教学设计
Step 1 Lead in
T: Boys and girls, let's do pair work to practise the sentences: How do you travel to Shanghai？/Which is the cheapest way to get there？/What's the best way to get there? OK. Let's look at some photos.(详见素材一导入二)
Step 2 Reading
1．Pair work. Ask the students to read the passage in Activity 2 fast and number the ways of travelling from the most expensive to the least expensive.
2.Group work. Let students read the passage in Activity 2 carefully and complete the table in Activity 3 in groups. (详见素材三突破一)
3．Let the students complete the mind map to grasp the main idea of the passage. (详见素材三突破二)
Step 3 Practice
Play the tape of the passage in Activity 2 and ask the students to repeat it. Read through the words in the box in Activity 4 and complete the short passage. (详见素材二活动一)
Step 4 Writing
1．Ask the students to read the passage in Activity 2, and use the information of the table in Activity 5 to write a passage about ways of travelling from London to Paris. The teacher can give help when necessary.
One possible version：
You can go from London to Paris by coach, plane or train. Travelling by plane is the fastest but also the most expensive way to get there. It's also less interesting than by coach or by train. Travelling by coach is cheaper than travelling by train or by plane, but it's also slower and the least comfortable. The train is the second most expensive and the second fastest way to travel to Paris.
2．Ask the students to practise writing a similar passage.
