1. 简介
EVA新版本的固件XCS09534000与以前的版本相比,具有以下特点:
Ø 更新磁盘阵列管理软件(CommandView)和数据复制管理软件(RSM)
Ø 支持Exchang-Based Routing数据复制协议,以提高远程数据复制的性能
Ø 支持VMware虚拟机作为EVA管理节点
Ø 修复部分已知BUG,提高EVA运行的稳定性和可靠性

3. 升级计划和步骤
3.1. 升级时间

3.2. 升级对生产的影响
XCS9534的升级必须通过Offline的方式进行,整个过程大约需要2小时(不包括用户启停业务的时间)
3.3. 升级前准备
1. 升级前完成EVA4400数据的备份,并确认其有效性
2. 停止业务,确认没有I/O的访问。
3.4. 升级操作步骤:
1 备份EVA的配置信息.由于各个版本的SSSU命令略有不同,以下仅供参考.

2 检查当前EVA的XCS版本,CV版本,IO Module软件版本。检查EVA目前运行状态和Controller Event log情况.
IO Module软件版本(Hardwareà Enclosureà IOà “Firmware revision”)
3 升级MM和CV。
MM升级后,可能出现无法ping通的情况,可以通过RESET按钮,恢复访问。
1. Connect a server with a CD drive to the management module port (1, Figure 7) on the controller
enclosure.
2. Insert the installation CD into the drive.
3. Open a browser and browse to the WOCP (Web-based Operator Control Panel):
https://HP EVA storage system IP address:2373
The WOCP login window appears.
4. Log in as an HP EVA administrator (user name admin and the password).
The WOCP GUI appears.
5. In the navigation pane, select Update management module firmware.
The Update Management Module Firmware window opens.
6. Click Browse and browse to the installation CD.
7. Select the ABM.pkg file and then click Next step.
8. Follow the online instructions and then click Finish. A confirmation window opens.
9. Click OK.
The Management Module Restart in Progress window opens. The image files are loaded. This
step can take several minutes.
10. Press the reset button (2, Figure 7) on the management module to activate the IP address.
4 升级控制器到XCS9534(具体升级过程请参考Upgrade Guide)
XCS9534在升级控制器时,会同时升级Enclosure的IO Module的FW(从0069 or earlier升级到0073),升级后控制器会自动重启。
1. Open HP Command View EVA in your browser.
2. In the Storage Systems navigation pane, select the storage system you want to upgrade.
The properties window for the selected storage system opens.
3. Click Code load.
The Code Load Selection window opens.
4. Select Code Load Storage System and click Select.
5. The Code Load Storage System – Page 1 window opens.
Click Browse, navigate to the installation CD (that was created from the download .ISO image.)
and select the appropriate file as below.

7. Click Next Step.
The Code Load Storage System-Page 2 window opens listing any pre-update application notes.
Read them before continuing. Two confirmation screens appear. Respond to both by entering
YES (all uppercase) to proceed.
8. Click Next Step.
The new storage system software is copied to the controllers and validated.
9. The upgrade process begins and the Initializing firmware code load page opens (see Figure 16).
This page is displayed until the upgrade is complete and the controllers restart. During this interval
both controllers resynchronize and begin operating on the new controller software. Once the
resynchronization is complete, the controllers begin processing host I/Os.
Next, additional code within the storage system is updated, which can take up to 10 minutes to
complete. This includes firmware on the I/O modules in the disk enclosures. During this interval,
the Storage System Updating Firmware window opens
5 Power Down Cycle整个EVA。
由于IO Model同时升级了新的FW,所以需要reboot整个EVA,使所有的IO链路全部运行在新的FW上,需要将EVA下电后在加点。 (下电:ControlleràEnclosure, 加点Enclosureà Controller)
6 升级Disk FW
EVA4400通过ABM(MM)管理方式,目前无法升级Disk FW,所以请跳过此过程。
7 检查EVA部件状态和Controller Event log状态正常.
检查EVA运行时间和SMA时间是否正确,检查控制器是否产生了最新的Event log。
4. 升级后测试计划
4.1. 正确性测试
1.升级后,检查XCS,CV版本升级到新的版本
2.从主机上ioscan –fnCdisk检查EVA设备是否CLAIMED
3.激活VG,察看是否可以激活。
5. 升级失败回退计划
Ø 只有在升级过程中发生硬件损坏的情况下,才有可能升级失败。如果升级过程中出现故障,需要立刻联系惠普响应中心,分析故障原因,定位故障点,更换故障备件。
l 回退步骤
Ø 升级固件与其他调整工作有所不同,如果升级过程当中某一部发生问题,需要立刻联系惠普响应中心进行诊断。即使要回退到以前的固件版本,也必须要将当前的系统故障修复以后,根据响应中心的分析决定来决定下一步的操作。
Ø 如果升级固件成功,硬件测试正确,但是应用程序不正常,可以按照之前的固件版本重新升级,降回到原先版本
l 回退难度估计
从EVA系列产品的固件升级案例来看,从未有过升级失败而进行回退的案例。
l 回退时间估计
因为升级本身在没有硬件损坏的情况下,是不可能失败的。所以如果要进行回退,首先是要将硬件故障修复,并将升级工作完成,系统恢复到正常状态。
