1. Report’s Format
a. memo式的报告 p36 (写分)
b. letter式的报告 p37（写分）
c. 在考试里常用的格式：
report on……(title)
introduction
findings/summary of data/discussion
conclusion/recommendation
introduction把目的，主要内容， 对结果的预示。 P36范例1，2，4
Findings/summary/ discussion
内容一定要有逻辑性的排列 （时间， 因果，递进。。。）
如果你觉得太抽象， 可以加小标题， bullet point/numbering
conclusion
1. 如果是报到性的报告，那这里只是对以上的内容的再次总结， 深化主题， 与intro相似。
2． 如果是分析性的报告——要得出结论和建议。
逻辑的顺序应该是，对内容的总结 结论 建议（解决问题，给出方向）
例子：p40 conclusion, p42 conclusion
表的写法， p51(写分) Q4
这里审题有点不同：
1．确定材料是什么
2． 目的是什么
3．还有什么要求
材料是comparison of products
确定目的：recommend ways of improving the quality and marketing．
要求：use the information in the table.
title:
Report on Product Comparison
把之前讲过的introduction应包括的内容包含进来， 并应用句型。
应包含的是目的， 或主要内容。
Introduction
The aim of this report is to recommend some practical resolutions of product quality and marketing based on the product comparison (题目给出的资料).
Findings
第一个内容点：summarize the info. 这里遵循的原则很简单， 就是把内容客观，准确地表达出来， 出了照搬内容外， 加一点点自己的见解， 让考官不认为你是照抄就可以了。
套句型
the key findings from the table are outlined below:
no matter in “value for money”, “reliability”, “after-sales service” or advertising”, we still have a lot of space to improve compared with shikei (所谓的自己的见解). Only in “product availability” , we are better than them. However, this reveals our product is less popular than shikei from the other side (自己的见解).
Conclusion & Recommendation
这里要从每个点里出发， 得出结论。 如果好像 答案 里， 得出这么综合性的建议。 其实对同学没有什么实际作用， 因为大家都不是专业人士， 没什么实际的工作经验。
所以我们只需一条一条总结， 并推导即可， 记得用numbering/subject
1.”value for money” and “reliability”
应用句型： From the above summarization, （value for money 是对客户的性价比 （cost-efficient是对生产商的性价比）， 性价比要提高 提高质量， 降低价钱） we should urge the R & D department to make more efforts in improving the product quality. At the same time, we could possibly lower the price.（在这里你发现“1”其实包含了“2”）。
提高质量的方法：upgrade facility, update the production theory (e.g, not fordism, but “just in time”), better performance from R & D
2． After-sales service (提高表现， 一般有提高remuneration /assign more personnel or more resource(support)/ stricter punishment system
we should set up a bonus system for customer service department to boost their performance.
3. advertising (增加投入， 找专业制作公司， 扩大投放的渠道, 不同的promotion method, e.g. activity sponsor, discount)
It is essential to increase the advertisement mediums, not just TVC.

讲评：
1． 首先总结一下introduction的句型：
a. the aim/purpose of this report is to …
b. the report I am submitting is to …
2. recommend, suggest
3. based on 后面跟 题目给出来的资料，可以用 following 代替
4． Findings的开头句型
a. as might have been expected
b. the key findings are outlined below
c. the table clearly shows that…
写report更像是一门数学课程， 因为语气已经设定为客观， 正式。 你需要做的只是1。在不同的地方， 应用句型； 2。把给出来的数字资料用文字把它表达出来， 同时加一点点的最简单的见解； 3。然后给出1+1=2的推断。
5． A比B好的表达方法：
a. A has a lot of space to improve compared with B
b. A is far less successful than B in terms of marketing and quality
c. Further efforts are urgently needed on marketing and quality to keep up with B
d. A has a long way to go to reach.

6. Recommendation 的 句型：
a. based on/following the discussion above (summaries above), it is wise for our company to do sth.
b. it would be advisable to do sth.

审题：
你的任务：you are asked to assess the local purchasing power.
首先明白pie chart说的是什么东西， local family income after tax
然后要写什么：1. interpret the chart to purchasing power.2. and then with the purchasing power, discuss prospect of investment. 3. Explain how you reach the conclusion from the chart

Report on future retail market investment
Introduction
任务已知，套句型
the report I am submitting aims to have some rough ideas of the future investment in the local retail market.
Findings 这种情况一般是先解决最高和最低
The chart shows that there are approximate 37% of the families with an income over 10,000, which is fairly acceptable (对材料的见解)。 However, we also have 20% of the families having an income under $3,000, a low income level (见解)。 Between these two extremes, the percentage of $3,000-5000 is 10%; $5000-$7000, 14%; and $7000-10,000, 19%, which is not exceptional compared with other areas (见解)。
Conclusion （negative answer）
On the basis of the findings above, we can see that the general family income after tax is acceptable and purchasing power (一定要出现，否则就偏题了)does exist. However, Mark& Spencer is always targeting up market customers, as a result, the prospect of future investment (点题) might not as positive as we expect. All the findings indicated that a more extensive study is justified.

审题:
曲线图是average income, 要analyze and predict 的是living condition
report on living condition of china peasants
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to discuss and predict the changes of the Chinese peasants’ living conditions (based on a graph of their average income).
Findings (这里有几点可以选择， 总的幅度， 最大最少的幅度.)
From the diagram attached, we can see that within the 8 years, 1978-1986, the income of Chinese peasants has increased dramatically: from 133.57 in 1978 to 500 in 1986, nearly 4 times.
It can be explained that living condition is improving. 这句不能少， 否则就不是在讨论change of living condition.
Conclusion & Prediction
Based on the analysis above, with the promising average income, the living condition of Chinese peasants will keep improving in the future. In addition, a relatively stable growth is expectable.

这里主要总结一下图表的用语

A slight increase, a sudden collapse, a dramatic/sharp/strong rise, a steady decline, a gradual rise, a jump, remain stable/steady, stay/level off

总结:
猛升：Skyrocket, Soar, jump
猛降：plunge, dive, collapse
下降：fall, drop, decline,
上升：increase, grow, rise,
升幅：growth rate, scale of increase/decline

report on change of tourism business

Intro
the aim of this report is to analyse the changes of tourism business trend in order to shed some light on (illustrate/illuminate) our own business.

Findings （合并同类项， 因为字数不允许你一个一个来）
The table of where people spend their holidays shows that the number of people who choose “T” and “C” both increase sharply. On the contrary (in contrast with), the population staying at home during holiday drops dramatically. Only the figure for “G” stays. All of them show (imply/indicate) that people are more and more willing to go out during holiday (见解).

Conclusion
Following the study of the table, it is necessary that we should arrange more foreign travelling lines (回应身份)， more camping activities in order to move with the trend.

1. the number of people who choose, 这里还可以说 the percentage of “t” and “c”
2. move with the trend还可以说move with times/respond to the market change.

这种类型的题比图表简单， 因为对概括能力要求不高， 基本是有碗数碗， 有碟数碟。

目的： recommend if you should deal with the supplier.

Report on Ludova Technologies Slovensko

Intro

The report I submit is to see if we should use Ludova Technologies as our supplier.

Summary of the info (事实罗列， 稍加见解)

From what I have noticed, Ludova’s production equipment is obsolete (out of date/outdated) to some extent, although facilities upgrade has been scheduled by the management. 或者说 The latest machines haven’t been put to use (put into practice) yet, although such idea is being considered. As a result (due to this), low production capacity is expected.

Nevertheless, the product range is broad and their quality explain their good reputation, although inconvenient location really affect their delivery efficiency (这个理由可以随便编， 航班少，not enough demand).

Recommendation

On the basis of my research,
肯定的答案：
Though their production capacity is limited, we can still give them a trial period because of the planned upgrade and their good quality. However, less delivery time must be realized (achieved) before a contract is granted.

否定答案：
We have to give them a miss due to disappointed production capacity though offset(balanced) by good quality & broad product range.

Advantages of flexible working hours
• Employees have greater freedom
• Can make travelling easier (e.g. avoiding commuting during the normal rush-hour)
• Improved morale and reducing absence and lateness
• Reduction in overtime and less lost time since long lunch breaks or late arrivals are not recorded as time worked
Disadvantages of flexible working hours
• Costs involved in administering the scheme
• If the premises are open longer, there may be increased costs for lighting and heating
• Employees will not be in work at certain times and therefore it may not be suitable for organisations where continuous cover is necessary.

Findings second paragraph
Due to the fact that the majority of our staff need to take care of children, they prefer flexible working hours.

Besides, some office are in poor condition. The worst is that some staff don’t even have enough natural light by Health and Safety standard.

Finally, complaints about less paid holiday form another issue. It is recommended that we should increase it to the average level in the industry.

Conclusion
In a word, working conditions are generally acceptable according to the most staff. And it is wise to rectify the remaining problems so that we can in turn achieve a better productivity.
