It was late at night, but Kevin lay awake in bed. He could not sleep because he was very scared. His bed was inside a big camping tent, and just outside the tent were the
fields of Afr ica. Kevin looked at his parents, who slept soundly in another bed across from him. He wanted to know how they could be so relaxed . What if a lion came into their tent to kill them? It took a long time before Kevin finally fell asleep.

Long ago, most children who were educated received their schooling at home. Then public schools ( 公立学校 ) de veloped, and children began to be educated in the classroom. But these days, learning at home is becoming more and more popular in some countries.
Before the 17th century, almost all children learned the things they needed at home. There were very few private schools ( 私立学校 ), which were very expensive. Most children received their education through homeschooling. Of course, it changed when public schools were introduced in the US in the 1600s. Parents did not need to teach at home if they could send their children to school to learn from a teacher. The parents were happy, even if the kids were not. In the middle of the 20th century, some parents went back to the old way of teaching their children. They became homeschoolers.
The number of students being homeschooled in the US is getting bigger and bigger . In 2007 there were about 15 million students being homeschooled. By 2011, the number had reached almost 1.8 million. That is only about 3.4% of the total student population in the US, but the number is growing.
Perhaps one of the main reasons that parents prefer homeschooling is that they are becoming smarter about it. Fifty years ago, parents who homeschooled were on their own. They had very little help outside of the family. Now there are homeschool groups, visiting teachers, school textbooks, and even the Internet to guide parents. It is not likely that homeschooling will replace ( 代 替 ) public schools, but the number of homeschooling is likely to continue to rise.

A. Parents get more help about homeschooling.
B. Students are not doing so well in school.
C. Studying at home is more comfortable.
D. Public schools are getting worse.
(4) According to the passage, in the future more and more parents will_.
A. send their children to school
B. ask teachers to teach at home

often than men. 4 He also has a theory about why people cry, but it is only a
theory. He has not proved it yet. Crying can remove the poi sons —p roduced by emotional stress or physical st ress—in the body and helps people stay healthy.

A. We cry for thousands of different reasons.
B. Scientists also believe that crying is good for you.
