There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip, so he packed his suitcase with cakes and a six-pack of beer, and started his journey.
In a park near his home, he met an old lady. She was sitting in a chair, staring at some pigeons (鸽子). The boy sat down next to her. He noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a biscuit.
The old lady gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty! The boy was pleased. They sat there all afternoon, eating and smiling, yet they never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy got up to leave. He gave the old lady a hug. The old lady gave him a big smile.
When the boy got home, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She
asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, " I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond ( 回应) , he added, "Her smile was the most beautiful one I've ever seen!"

It was sad for Chua Yi Xiang to see an old man with a walking stick fall on a wet road last year. Yi Xiang not only stopped to help the man up, but also gave him an idea to protect the old and disabled from falling on wet places. Later, Yi Xiang and his classmate invented the Ely Walking Stick, and they won first prize in a student invention challenge.
The walking stick was invented to vibrate (震动) to remind people when there are wet
places, as well as light up in dark conditions. The walking stick did well when it was tested in a hospital.
The challenge, organized ( 组织) in Singapore's Nanyang Technical University (NTU)
every year once 2013,saw teams of students develop inventions to improve the life of the old and disabled.
Many other students took part in the challenge. For example, to help stroke sufferers(中风患者) like her grandfather, Tang Li Yun developed a special machine with four other team
members. The machine has an arm that lets stroke sufferers do arm exercise at home. Although the six months of research was very hard, she had a feeling of satisfaction when
seeing her invention on show.
One of the university teachers, Cheng Wee Kian, said that he felt good about his students being able to do something for people in need. "It's great to see they are trying their best to help others, " he said. The old and disabled said such inventions would be useful to them.
