It was the day of the big cross-country run. Students from seven different primary schools in and around the small town were warming up and walking the route(路线)through thick evergreen forest. I looked around and finally spotted David, who was standing by himself off to the side by a fence. He was small for ten years old. His usual big toothy smile was absent today. I walked over and asked him why he wasn’t with the other children. He hesitated and then said he had decided not to run. What was wrong? He had worked so hard for this event! I quickly searched the crowd for the school’s coach and asked him what had happened. “I was afraid that kids from other schools would laugh at him,” he explained uncomfortably. “I gave him the choice to run or not, and let him decide.” I bit back my frustration(懊恼). I knew the coach meant well—he thought he was doing the right thing. After making sure that David could run if he wanted, I turned to find him coming towards me, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward. David had a brain disease which prevented him from walking or running like other children, but at school his classmates thought of him as a regular kid. He always participated to the best of his ability in whatever they were doing. That was why none of the children thought it unusual that David had decided to join the cross-country team. It just took him longer—that’s all. David had not missed a single practice, and although he always finished his run long after the other children, he did always finish. As a special education teacher at the school, I was familiar with the challenges David faced and was proud of his strong determination. We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 Possible version 1: We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn’t look at me. I said gently and quietly, “No one can change your mind, except yourself. If you desire to challenge yourself, there is nothing to do with others’ thoughts.” He sat still with a deep breath. “You have a full preparation before this event, which is the most important reason why you show up here”, I added with a sincere tone. Hearing my words, David turned to me tremblingly with tears spilling out of his eyes and expressed he had made a firm determination to finish the cross-country run. His coach heard what David said and gave me a look—the kind that was more determined than anyone else’s. I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. The race started. It seemed that the runway was extremely long for young children, not to mention a child with a heart disease. David insisted on running as if he had forgotten all his weaknesses, though he was tripped over within the a few kilometers. It didn’t take long before he picked himself up again and continued his mission. Classmates all appeared on the racing track, cheering for him. “Come on! You can make it! We are proud of you!” they shouted enthusiastically. To everyone’s joy, he reached the final line and ranked the 20th. It was no more important whether he won the first place or not. It was his brave heart and strong faith that could make something unusual happen finally. Possible version 2: We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me. Seeing his face filled with anxiety, I felt sad, deciding to talk something with him. Turning to David, I smiled, “David, Look, what a wonderful event!” “Yeah!” David smiled weakly, bowing his head. Patting on his shoulder, I said in a soft voice, “I heard you had worked so hard for this event. How I admire your strong determination. Why not give it a try?” “Teacher, I am afraid kids from other schools will laugh at me. I think what the coach said is right.” murmured David, with glum looks on his face. “But David, what counts most is to participate to the best of your ability in whatever we’re doing. Do you agree?” After a temporary hesitation, David nodded in agreement, finally deciding to join in the cross-country team. I watched as David moved up to the starting line with the other runners. With a blast of the gun, David tried his best to shoot from the start line, but he failed. Painful and a bit embarrassed as he was, he still dragged his feet to keep moving forward. The sun was beating down, the hot weather suffocating. After what seemed years, David, rocking his small body like a cat on a hot brick, eventually finished his run as the last one. When approaching the finish line, he burst into a big toothy smile and waved to me with excitement, crying “ I made it! I made it!” All the kids including those from other schools erupted into a big applause, cheering for his determination and persistence. At that moment, a flush of admiration and joy swept over me. 原文中的关键词 提取原文中的关键词,主要人物对象有:我,一名特殊教育教师(a special education teacher), 残疾学生David;主要事件信息的关键词有:absent, not to run, laugh at, his small body rocking from side to side as he swung his feet forward, a brain disease, the best of his ability, finished his run long after the other children, 等;指心理感受和情感态度的关键词有:usual big toothy smile, proud of, hesitated, frustration, his strong determination等。 续写流程 续写第一段提示首句为 “We sat down next to each other, but David wouldn't look at me.”。 I managed to persuade David to join in the race. What did I decide to do? This high school was definitely bigger than the one I had previously attended. This was my second year of high school, but my first year of school in St. Louis. I had decided the night before that I would be much happier in a new school if I made friends that were so-called “popular”. Getting in with the right group of people would make my life a whole lot better. I even bought a new outfit and had my hair styled just so the first day would be perfect. Scared, yet anxious to begin my new life, I walked up the stairs to the front door. The halls were packed with kids yelling and laughing and telling stories of their summer adventures. My first class was geometry, but where was that? I was standing in the hall looking confused, when a short, blond girl wearing glasses came up and asked, “Are you new? You look lost. Do you need help? My name is Diane. What’s yours?” Even though she seemed a bit strange, definitely not the kind of person I wanted to be associated with, I decided to answer her anyway. I was, after all, lost. After exchanging names. I followed her up the stairs and down a hallway on the right, making polite conversation the whole way. When we reached my room she said, “Well, here you are. Welcome to JFK, and I hope your day goes all right.” I said thanks and waved good-bye. Once inside the classroom, I saw one big group of people huddled around someone who seemed to be telling some sort of story. I walked over and got close enough to overhear. All eyes were glued to the guy in the middle of the circle who was wearing a letter jacket covered with patches. I decided that this guy was popular, so I managed to get a seat right next to him. I said, “Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m new here.” He said, “Johnny.” At the end of the class, I turned to him and asked, “I’m not sure where my next class is, could you help me?” ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just at that time, someone came up and tapped me on the shoulder. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 At the end of the class, I turned to him and asked, “I’m not sure where my next class is, could you help me?” With a frown, he looked at me and then said a quick no, turned back to his friends, and walked out of the classroom. As they were walking out I heard him say, “Did you guys see that new girl trying to get into our group? That outfit was too strange.” They all laughed and some of them turned around and stared at me. My face hot with shame, I stood stock-still, not believing what had just happened. Just at that time, someone came up and tapped me on the shoulder. It was Diane. Like a ray of sunshine, the big smile on her face swept away my gloom. I struggled to hold my feelings back and told her what I had encountered. A gleam of concern in her eyes, she said she was sorry and offered to find my next class. At that moment I realized how wrong I was in wanting to only be friends with popular people. Maybe I shouldn’t decide whether a person is worth being my friend or not by their reputation, but by who they are. Debbie, a 10-year-old boy, was living in North River Heights in upper Manhattan, New York. He had a rare medical facial deformity(畸形). Due to several surgeries, Debbie had been home-schooled by his mother, but as Debbie was approaching the fifth grade, his mother decided to send him to Beecher Prep, a mainstream private school. In order to protect his face skin, Debbie had to apply ointment (药膏)to his face, which made him look like wearing a special face mask. At the beginning of the schooldays, he was rejected by nearly the entire student body for his strange look, which was a difficult period for him. Luckily, a girl named Summer, who offered to sit with him on his first day of school, helped him get through the tough time. They often played together and chatted about their favourite subject—science. And they became good friends. Gradually, Debbie’s outstanding learning ability and kind behaviour made him popular among students. Since Debbie was expert in science, his classmates would turn to him whenever they had problems in learning. Debbie was always more than willing to help them. Naturally his kindness and warm heart won him a group of good friends and Debbie’s classmates got used to the way his face looked as well. On Halloween, Debbie’s school held varieties of festival activities, every classroom decorated with flowers and toys. All classmates were dressing up. Debbie joined in it and wore a Ghost Face mask and costume. They all had fun pretending to be their favorite characters. Unrecognized, he was walking through the door to his classroom when he overheard his classmate Jack telling his roommates: “I have never seen an uglier face than Debbie’s.” On hearing this, Debbie felt sad and disappointed, leaving secretly. Summer happened to stand behind Debbie and meet the incident, but it was too late to stop it. As Debbie’s best friend at school, Summer thought Debbie was a nice boy and deserved to be treated kindly. After a second thought, Summer went to Jack’s room. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Jack decided to say sorry to Debbie. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 After a second thought, Summer went to Jack’s room. Summer angrily said to Jack that his behavior was too rude and caused serious harm to Debbie. Jack said Debbie’s face was really ugly and he didn’t lie. Summer said “Although Debbie looked different from us, he was a very excellent boy. In addition, he was not only very good at the science subject, but also eager to help everyone solve problems. We should not judge people by their appearance.” After hearing summe
