A lot of people in and around the city took part in it. It was Sunday. There were some clouds in the sky in the early morning but the sun was shining when the race began. Eighteen boys and girls in my class, as well as four of my teachers, gathered on the south side of Luohe River to take part in the marathon. It was the first time that we had been in a marathon. We were excited and had fun running with people. We had to run 10 km. It was not a race, but an event to challenge ourselves. We helped each other during the run. When someone fell behind, others would go to encourage him or her not to give up. Tired but happy, all of us made it in about 90 minutes. The marathon is like life, in which we can choose whether or not to keep going when we feel tired or meet difficulties. The biggest enemy(敌人) is ourselves, whom we should fight with and defeat(打败). We never know what will happen in the future, but what we can do is to try our best. If we can keep running, success will belong to us, because it's impossible to defeat a person who never gives up. Challenges make life interesting and meaningful. This very first marathon will always be remembered as an unforgettable event in my life. 4. How many people took part in the race in our school? A.We should face challenges bravely and defeat ourselves. B.Life is meaningful and we should value it. C.Smile to all the challenges in our lives. D.Remember all the wonderful experiences happening in our lives. C Do you know how chocolate is made? Recently my class had a field trip to the Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Toronto, Canada. We were divided into 10 groups and visited an old building. The guide first explained the history of the factory. Then we got some earbuds(耳塞) to protect our ears from the noise of the machines. We also needed to wear disposable(一次性的) lab clothes and hairnets(发网) to make sure we didn't dirty their work area. After these preparations, we went upstairs and entered the chocolate-making area. The floor was filled up with many machines. Each machine had a different job. The whole floor only had two people working, because machines did most of the work. Next, the guide explained the history of chocolate making. There was a picture of the factory 100 years ago, and there were more than 1,000 people working in the factory. But now the factory is very different. It's amazing how technology is changing people's life. Later, we saw the chocolate-making process. We got a cocoa bean, some powdered(粉状的) chocolate and a final chocolate product. I opened the cocoa bean and tasted it. It tasted bitter, kind of like dark chocolate. It is the raw material used to make chocolate. The powdered chocolate tasted good already. It is a combination of cocoa beans, milk and sugar. The final product tasted delicious. Finally, we bought some chocolate at a shop in the factory. It was at a very low price. This field trip taught me how important technology is. I also learned about the chocolate industry. 8.The students needed to before they entered the chocolate-making area.  ①know the history of the factory ②wear disposable lab clothes ③wear earbuds ④wear hairnets A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①②④ D.①③④ 9.After the students learned about the history of chocolate making, they .   A.entered an old building B.learned about the history of the factory C.went upstairs D.saw the chocolate-making process 10.According to Paragraph 3, the writer wrote “It's amazing how technology is changing people's life.” when he found that .  A.machines were doing most of the work in this factory B.more people were working in the factory than before C.people were making more and more delicious chocolate D.chocolate foods were changing the world 11.What is the best title of the passage? That day when he was working in the field, the shocked horse ran past him. Without thinking, he rushed out and controlled it. He didn't know it was the Queen's horse and never expected to get a gift. But he still felt happy for getting one. Two of the queen's men appeared. One carried a mirror. Red jewels(珠宝) shone on top of the mirror's silver frame(框架). The other carried a wooden cage with a chicken inside it. “Only one gift can be yours,” the queen said. “Choose wisely.” “That's easy,” Peter said. “I'll take the chicken.” Some of the queen's men laughed. It was clear that they thought he had made a foolish choice. “And why did you choose the chicken?” the queen asked. “Well, I don't know much about jewels,” Peter answered. “But I do know about chickens. The chicken will provide eggs for my family for a long while.” Queen Olivia smiled. “Then you did make a wise choice,” she said. “That mirror may look beautiful. But the jewels you see are only coloured glass, and the frame is painted silver. The chicken is much more valuable.” Peter took the chicken and bowed. “Thank you, your majesty.” “You are a smart child,” the queen added. “ I could use a smart boy to help take care of my horses. Would you like to take the job?”Peter smiled.“Thank you very much!” he said excitedly. A job at the castle paid well. We also needed to wear disposable lab clothes and hairnets to make sure we didn't dirty their work area.” 故选A。 故选A。 A项“彼得很难做出选择”,由第三段中的“That's easy”可知A项不对;根据第三段最后一句“It was clear that they thought he had made a foolish choice.”可知B项“所有的人都认为彼得的决定是正确的”不对;根据第四段中的“The chicken will provide eggs for my family for a long while.” a. 由第四段中的“The chicken will provide eggs for my family for a long while.”
