Project Content Aims Teaching procedures Step1: Lead-in and warm up Do you want to challenge? Individual work PK work in groups Write down the word that has "th" in it, Such as think, that, mouth…. Who has the more words, work by yourself or work in groups! Motivate the Ss and let them know the group work is very important. Step2: Debate 1. Do you like group work? 2. What can you do to help your group work well together? 3. Which do you prefer? Individual work or work in groups? Step3: Reading 1. Fast--reading Read the lesson and tick the correct answers 1). The group is working slowly. Yi Han wants to solve the problem. What does she do? □Tell the teacher. □ Talk to Li Tian. 2). Li Tian has some difficulties. What are they? □He doesn’t want to be in the group. □He doesn’t want to do something stupid. 3). Knowing Yi Han decides to help him, what will Li Tian do? □He will try hard to do his part. □He think it’s not fair to do his part. 2. Do you know these words? Absent? Trouble? Secret? Match the words and the correct meanings? 3. Read and listen for the specific information. Answer the questions. 1). Who is the leader of the group? 2). What are her problems? 3). Did Yi Han tell Ms. Liu about these problems? 4). What did she decide to do? 5). Who needs help in the group? 6). What's the result of their communication? 7). What can you learn from Yi Han? Get to know more information about the group work. Students get a general idea of the text. Learn the new words. Students can understand better through reading and listening. Step3: Practice 1. Have a memory test about the text! 2. Do you know the meaning of these words and phrases? ① Don’t miss “Gardening with Mary” on Saturday afternoons. Mary Green will share her rose growing ____________ with you. ② Cathy ____________ school because she had a bad headache. ③I wrote a letter to Rose. Deal with the exercises and test the students’ mastery about the knowledge and make students understand the text better. Step4: Discussion 1. What kind of problems may we meet when we work in groups? 2. How to solve these problems? 3. What other suggestions can you give us? (The teacher can help the students at first if the students can’t show their opinions. ) Make the students solve the problems and give more suggestions. Step5: Group work Show your group to us and let us know you well! 1. What's the name of your group? 2. Who is the leader of your group? 3. Who is good at making a speech? 4. Who is quick-minded? 5. What are the problems of your group? 6. What are your group dreams? Teacher: You are the member of your group, you should work hard to try your part.
