二、 教材分析
本模块以生活经历为话题,要求听懂,读懂对过去生活经历的描述及简
单的人物传记并通过对自己和他人生活经历的描述掌握一般过去时态的表
达方式.
第一单元通过贝蒂和她爷爷之间的对话,谈论贝蒂爷爷过去的经历,掌握一般过去时态的一般疑问句及其回答;同时掌握十二个月的名称和中西方节日,日期的英文表达.
第二单元通过描述英国著名剧作家莎士比亚的生活经历,使我们能够读懂简单的人物传记,扩大词汇量,培养学生的阅读技巧,并通过对自己和他人的生活经历的描述,掌握一般过去时态的表达方式.
第三单元是在前两个单元的基础上,对所学语法知识进行概括性的总结,巩固基础知识,并通过谈论过去的生活这个话题来进一步加强对一般过去时态的应用.最后通过Writing about people in the past来完成本模块的任务.

三 、教学对象分析
1 、学生们是初次学习传记文体的文章，他们会觉得较难，教师要培养学生的阅读技巧。
2 、学生对莎士比亚不是很了解，尤其是部分词汇很难读，教师要帮助学生处理好这些词汇，为阅读文章扫清障碍。

四 、教学目标
I、 知识技能目标：
（1）、词汇： 围绕本单元课文，学会熟练掌握be born, start school, marry, move to, have children, die, poet, rich, successful, theater company等词汇及其用法。
（2）、语音：学会准确地读出be born, start school, marry, move to, have children, die, poet, rich, successful, theater company等词语；同时为阅读课文扫清障碍，能熟练读出William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Queen Elizabeth I, the Globe Theater, the River Thames, languages等词汇。
（3）、语法：熟练运用一般过去时态。
（4）、技能：通过本篇课文的学习，能读懂简单的人物传记；掌握理解段落大意的技能；培养学生理解细节的能力；能用一般过去时态按照时间顺序描述自己的经历。
（5）、话题：谈论莎士比亚的生平；谈论自己过去的生活经历。

II 、情感目标
通过对莎士比亚的了解，培养对文学家的崇拜之情以及对文学的
兴趣。
III 、学习策略
能够学会谈论个人信息的策略；能阅读简单的传记文体的策略；能与小组进行交流合作的策略。

英国文豪莎士比亚是英国人的骄傲，也是英国文坛的象征之一。

重点：了解莎士比亚的简要生平；通过本文的学习，能读懂简单的人物传记；掌握本文出现的新词汇。
难点：以学习传记文体的短文为载体培养学生的阅读技巧；如何用一般过去时态来谈论自己过去的经历。

五、 教学过程
Step I Revision
1 、Greetings
2、 Revise the dates, the months of the year.
设计意图：检测学生对月份，日期英文表达的掌握程度，为本课做铺垫。
3 、Ask and answer some questions like in Activity 8 in Unit 1.
设计意图：检测学生对一般疑问句及其回答的运用。
Step II Lead-in: Activity 1
1、Look at the picture. Talk about it.
设计意图：引起学生兴趣，有利于学习本篇课文。
2 、Books open. Turn to Page 142. Look at the introductions to William Shakespeare.
设计意图：大致了解莎士比亚，把本课化难为易，使学生轻松学习本文。
Step III Read Activity 1
1、 Learn the new words and expressions. Esp. teach them to read the following vocabulary.
William Shakespeare, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Queen Elizabeth I, the Globe Theater, the River Thames, languages等。
设计意图：为学习课文扫清障碍。
2、 Books open. Read the passage silently and answer the questions, and then check all together.
设计意图：让学生带着问题阅读课文，培养他们的阅读技巧，从而了解莎士比亚的简要生平。
3、Read the passage again and explain the important and difficult points.

Step IV Practice
1、 Put the sentences in the correct order. Do it individually, then check with the whole class.

设计意图：帮助学生把文章条理化，这是阅读传记文体文章的一种非常好的训练方式。
3、Talk about the life of Shakespeare according to Activity 3.
设计意图：培养学生运用语言输出的能力，同时掌握莎士比亚的生平。
4、Activity 4 Put the words and phrases in the correct order of time. Ask the students to do it in pairs and check with the whole class.
设计意图：检测学生对文章细节的理解。
5、Activity 5 Match the words with their meanings. First do it individually, next check in groups, then check with the whole class.
设计意图：加深学生对本单元重点词汇的理解，强化核心词汇。
6、  Read the passage and correct the sentences in their workbooks, Activity 8.
设计意图：在课文学习的基础上，进一步了解莎士比亚。
Step V Writing Activities 6 and 7
1、 Activity 6 Look at these sentences and read them. Pay attention to the difference between “at the age of six” and “at six”.
设计意图：训练学生运用一般过去时态进行表达的能力，掌握二者之间的区别。
2、Activity 7 Write sentences about events in their life. Do it individually, then check in pairs, finally ask some students to read and check.

May 12, International Nurses’ Day, is Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Every year people celebrate her birthday to remember the love and help that she gave the whole world.
Nightingale was born in 1820 in Florence, Italy. Her family had a lot of money. When she was 24, she wanted to be a nurse. But her parents didn’t agree. They didn’t want her to do any work.
But Nightingale insisted on her dream. She went to nursing school in Germany to learn to be a nurse. And in 1854, Nightingale, with 38 nurses from England, went to care for soldiers near Turkey.
After the war, in 1860, Nightingale opened a nursing school. She also worked to make hospitals better. She died in 1910 in London, England at the age of 90. She was one of the world’s great nurses.
