一、Teaching Objectives:
1. To get information from the passage “The fashion show” and develop the students’ ability of reading comprehension by skimming and scanning the passage.
2. To learn the following words and expressions, such as cool, cotton, wool, leather, silk, style, smart, modern, raise money for, look colourful, etc.
3. To let the students know if they can help others, the world will be a better place.

四、Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet the Ss and ask them to share something interesting .Play the video for the Ss to watch and answer the questions:.
What are they doing? What can you see in it?etc.(To lead in the topics”Fashion Show”)
Step 2 Pre-reading
Introduce something about my friend Suzy who is a fashionable lady. ['leidi]
Present some new words such as blouse/skirt/tie/scarf ;cotton/silk/wool and so on.
(Ask the Ss to watch and touch the clothes to help them understand the meaning of some words.)
2.Ask the Ss to read the words after the teacher as many times as possible.
Step 3 While-reading
1. Skimming
Let the students skim the story and answer the following two questions
1) How many paragraphs(段) are there in the text?
2) How many students are mentioned(提及)in the text?
3) Who are they?
Ask several Ss to answer them orally.
2. Scanning
1)Let students read paragraph 1-2,and answer the following questions:
(1).What are the students going to show ?
(2).Is Millie from Class 2,Grade 7?
(3).What is Millie wearing?
(4).Are trainers comfortable and popular among young people?
2).Enable the students to read paragraph 3-4 and fill in form(one word each blank)

3).Ask the Ss to read paragraph 5 and tell the following sentences ‘T’ or ‘F’
(1). Sandy comes after Simon.
(2)Sandy is wearing a yellow cotton blouse.
(3).She is wearing a black leather skirt.
(4).She is wearing a pair of red boots.
(5).She looks modern and beautiful.
4). Detailed reading
Show the Ss pictures of the Ss and clothes on the screen and encourage the students to match them as quickly as they can,getting ready for retelling.
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Show the Ss a picture of Sandy on the screen and help them learn how to say something about her.
Here comes Sandy . She/He is wearing a red silk blouse,a wool skirt and a pair of red boots.Her red boots matches her red blouse well. She/He looks modern and beautiful!
2. Show the Ss pictures of Sandy,Amy,Simon and Daniel on the screen and help them how to say something about them in groups of four.
Encourage the students to say something about one of the Ss in front of the class.
Step 5 Fashion show
1. The teacher walk as a model while introducing her clothes first.
2. Encourage several pairs to have a fashion show in front of the class.
Step 6 Discussion
1. Show the Ss pictures of helpless people on the screen and tell the Ss the people lost their homes because of the typhoon called Haiyan.They are in trouble.How can we help them?(Play the music while the Ss are discussing in pairs).
2.Encourage the Ss to share their opinions with the Class.
3.Sum up Some possible advice and show them on the screen to the Ss.
1).Give some food and clothes to them.
2).Have a fashion show to get some money for them.
3).Ask more people to help them in different ways.
4).Try to be kind to others
5).If(如果)we help each other in time, the world will become a better place to live in
Step 7 Home work:
1. Read the text.
2. Memorize the key words and phrases.
