Step 2 Grammar explanation (although/though)
1. although的用法
although/though用作连词, 意为“尽管,虽然”,常用于引导让步状语从句。让步状语从句表示即使出现在从句中的情况,主句动作仍然会发生,有“退一步说……”的意思。
although和though可用于句首或句中,但不能与连词but同时使用,不过可与yet, still连用。
若主从句的主语相同,且从句谓语含有动词be, 可将从句主语和动词be省略。

1. such... that 作“ 如此…以至于” 解,连接结果状语从句。(结果状语从句是用来补充说明主句动作发生所带来的结果。)
和 so... that 意思相同,但是用法不同。so 是副词,后面可加形容词和副词:
so+ adj./adv.+ that clause
e.g. It is so nice that we can go out for a picnic.
天气是如此的好以至于我们可以外出野餐。
而such 是限定词,后面要加名词或名词词组,名词前面可以带形容词,也可以不带。
such +noun/noun phrases + that clause
e.g. It is such a nice day that we can go out for a picnic.
2. Practice
用so…that或such…that翻译句子。
1) 这个问题太难了,没有人能回答。
2) 这部电影太好看了,电影院里座无虚席。
3) 那家剧院很大,他们几乎在里面迷路了。
Step 4 Grammar explanation (so that)
1. so that引导目的状语从句, (目的状语从句用以说明主句动作发生的目的。)
其从句中的谓语动词通常和情态动词can, may, will, might, would, could, should等情态动词连用, 而且主句和从句之间不使用逗号。
so that意为“以便, 为了, 使能够”,可以与in order that相替换。
e.g. They got up early so that they could catch the early bus.
为了能赶上早班车,他们早早就起床了。
Say slowly so that I can understand you. 说慢点,好让我听明白。
We will come at eight so that the meeting can begin early.
=We will come at eight in order that the meeting can begin early.

Step 1 Lead-in
Watch a video Interstellar and tell the students this is a science fiction film—a three-hour film. Then review different kinds of films.
Step 2 Make up some dialogues
Let Ss talk about films with partners. Make up some similar dialogues and act them out.

1. Say: There are many famous film festivals around the world. 2. Tell the students: There is a film festival in Sunshine Town. Sandy wants to write about some of the films. Help her complete part of her notes according to the guide.
