Step 1 . Ask students to read this passage and answer the following three questions : 1).why do we use e-mail english ? 2).where does it come from? 3).when is it supposed to be used? please try to read the passage and find out which paragraph can tell us the information. Then check the answers . Step 2 . Read the instructions to the class . You might also want to explain them to the students . Students complete the work in pairs . Review the task . Ask a few students to read the end of story . Step 3 Do the example with the class to show them how to do the work ,then check the answers . 1. bow 2. shake 3. kiss 4. chopsticks 5 knife Step 4 reading 1 Divide the class into pairs .discuss the expressions and write them out in standard English with the correct spelling . 2. Ask pairs to share their ideas with two other pairs and compare . 3. Ask students to write down some more examples they can think of . They may have seen similar examples on the internet , On the internet , on phones , or even on television . 4.Ask the students to answer how are abbreviations, homophones and emoticons formed or created?. Abbreviations are formed by ________ _____________ Homophones are created by _________ ____________________ Emoticons are formed by using_______ ______________ Step 5 While you read . Ask students to look at the illustrations first and comment on the English used . 2. Now tell students they are going to learn how to text-message in English . Ask them to read silently and disscuss any vocabulary they don’t understand as they read with their partner . 3. Task 1 Fast reading Read fast and write the names of the three types of e-mail English at the top of each column .
