To be able to do self-check and evaluate the knowledge and skills learnt in this unit. 教学重点 Help the students revise and evaluate the knowledge and skills learnt in this unit. 教学难点 To be able to develop students’ ability to describe or introduce their favourite programs. 教具 PowerPoint presentation slides 教 学 环 节 设 计 教学步骤 教学过程设计 Warming up I. Present the three pictures on Page 52. Ask the students to look at them and guess: What kinds of programs are they? II. Tell the students they are going to learn more about TV programs. Reading presentation I. Ask the students to read the dialogue and write down these sentences on the blackboard: Which TV programs do you like best? I like quiz shows. They are very interesting. Ask the students to make the same kinds of sentences one by one to talk about what they like and give their reasons. II. Play the tape. Divide the students into groups and ask them to read after the tape. III. Give the students time to look at the pictures in Activity ② on Page 52. Ask them to match the pictures with the TV programmes. IV. Instruct the students to finish the passage on Page 53. Remind students of the reading skill: skimming for the gist. Answer the questions: What do kids in the US do as after-school jobs? What does everyone have to do at time-travel party? How does everyone feel at time-travel party? V. Play the tape and ask the students to listen to it. Extension activity I. Ask the students to form groups, and talk about what they would like to do when they go back school twenty years later. Each group will choose a member to talk about their ways of gathering again. II. Ask the students to give their opinions about other groups’ ideas (what they would like to do). They should not only talk about whether they like the ideas and their reasons as well. III. Give comments on each group’s ideas in the end. 教学环节设计 Further activity I. Present the two phonetic symbols and their pronunciations in Fun Time on Page 54. II. Play the tape of “Tongue Twisters” and ask the students to read after the tape. III. Play the tape of “A Joke”, and then ask the students to tell a new one. Self-check 1. Ask the students to read the words, phrases and sentences in class. 2. Instruct the students to collect other words, phrases and sentences in groups and present their work in class. Homework 1. Ask the students to memorise the key words, phrases and sentence patterns in this unit. 2. Ask the students to preview Unit 6.
