九上 Module 1 Wonders of the world Unit 2 The Grand Canyon was not just big. By Sally施 一、教学目标 知识目标: 1)掌握本课时相关单词和3个词组(go through, fall away, on top of)。 2)理解和体会用wide, deep, high, tall等形容词描述客观事实,用wonderful, huge, great等形容词表达主观看法。 技能目标: 运用阅读策略和技巧,快速掌握表述景观的中心大意,并通过细读了解细节。 情感态度与价值观目标: 培养学生对神奇大自然的热爱,对伟大的人类文明的热爱。提高对英语的学习兴趣吗,提高学习英语的效率,实现语言结构与运用能力的全面转型,提高对英语的学习兴趣。参加各种英语活动,克服困难,在新环境中进一步树立准确的语言学习观。 二、教学重点和难点 重点:读懂有关景点的文章,掌握用形容词描述有关景点的事实和感受。 难点:学会介绍自己的旅游经历。 三、教学过程 Step 1 Lead in 1. Show a picture of the Great Wall and talk something about the picture. What's the name of the place? Is it an ancient building? How long/wide is it? 2. Show some pictures of famous buildings, seas, towers, waterfalls and so on. Describe them with the words in Activity 1, and at the same time learn some new words. Step 2 Learn the new words (Activity 1) 为了学习方框中的单词,教师可以提前上网搜索大峡谷的图片,通过多媒体展示给学生。然后学生两人一组,用上这些单词,谈论自己了解的自然景观。 ●Have students look at the words in the box and check the meanings. Read the words with students and check pronunciation. ●Ask students to remind you of four or five of the natural wonders they included in their list in Unit 1 and write the names. ●Put students in pairs to take turns to talk about the wonders on the blackboard using the words in the box. Step 3 Skip the passage and answer the questions (Activity 2) ●Ask students to look at the photograph of the Grand Canyon and tell where they think the place is. Find out if they know anything about the Grand Canyon. ●Read the passage and ask students to look at the table and tell you what information they need to fill in. Step 4 Intensive reading (Activity 3) ●让学生读懂问题,要求他们带着问题细读短文,选出正确答案。Have students read the questions and check the meaning. Ask students to read the text again and look for the correct answers. ●引导学生细读短文,找出关键词汇、短语或句子。 (1)Find out the phrases in the passage and write them down on a piece of paper. (2)Find out the useful sentences and structures. Step 5 Read again and retell the story (Activity 4) Activity 4 属于词汇运用练习,在完成短文填空之前,可以先通过练习帮助学生提高在语境中运用所学单词的能力。具体操作: 学生浏览方框中给出的词汇,理解词汇,然后教师可以让学生翻译句子。 如: 你最好尽快答复我。 You'd better reply to me as soon as possible. 最后学生独立完成短文填空。 学生浏览方框中给出的词汇,阅读短文,理解大意,完成填空。 (1)Tell students to read the words in the box and find them in the passage. (2)Ask them to tell what the meanings of the words are. (3)Ask students to complete the passage using the words. Step 6 Language points 1.below prep. 在下面;在……以下 2.reply v. 回答;答复 3.There was nothing to see…什么也看不见…… 4.You'll get there in five minutes.五分钟后你将到达那儿。 Step 7 Write (Activities 5, 6) 本模块要求学生能够对自己熟悉的某个景观进行事实性描述。在写作时特别要关注提示中的六方面内容:when you visited it, where it is, its size, interesting facts, what happened, how you felt. Step 8 Homework 1. Read the passage in a2 fluently. 2. Try to polish your writing.
