I. Teaching aims and learning objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. recognize some consonant groups;
2. pronounce these consonant groups;
3. pronounce new words with the consonant groups.
II. Teaching contents
1. Some consonant groups at the beginning of a word: /b/, /k/, /f/, /g/, /p/, /s/ + /l/

/s/ + /k/, /p/, /t/ + /r/

2. Some consonant groups at the end of a word: /b/, /p/, /k/, /d/, /t/, /s/ + /l/

Identify the consonant groups and pronounce them correctly.
IV. Teaching procedures
Step 1 Lead-in
T: How many phonemes are there in English? How many vowels are there in English? How many consonants are there in English?

Step 2 Fun time
T: Look at the pronunciations, and try to pronounce each word. Find out what the thing is.

T: Some consonant groups at the beginning of a word are like this:

1. T: Complete the descriptions below with the correct consonant letters.

2. T: Practise saying the following sentences.
(1) Our classrooms are clean and bright.
