Unit 2 What’s the best time to visit your town or country?
■Warming up
Good morning, everyone! Do you know where I am from? I am from Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Have you ever heard of it? Fuzhou is a big city to visit. The best plan to visit my hometown is arrive in Fuzhou in September. The weather starts to get cooler and cooler. So wait and go to see my hometown in September!
■Reading and vocabulary
1 Read the passage and decide what you can see in the photos.
On page 90 you find a passage about visiting the USA. Now listen to the recording of the passage first, paying attention to the pronunciation, stress, and the intonation of the native speakers.
For the second listening, try to read aloud the text to the tape while listening.
Now let’s go on to read the text. While reading try to cut(断句)/ the sentences into parts, blacken（涂黑） the predicates, shade（加影） the connectives and underline （划线）the expressions.

When's the best time to visit China?
China is a very big country to visit, so choose carefully the places to see and the time to go. Bring a good map because you may want to travel around.
Beijing is a good place to visit in May or October. It's not too hot then．In the winter there's a lot of snow.
The best plan is to arrive in Beijing in September. The weather starts to get cooler and the trees start to change colour. It's a good idea to bring your camera because you may want to take photos of the autumn leaves.
One thousand four hundred and three kilometres away in Shanghai, the weather is fine from January to May, and from October to December. It's nice to see the Huangpu River in December! Bring your swimsuit because you might want to swim in the sea.
In the northwest, it isn't very cold, but there’s little rain, so you don’t need to bring an umbrella. It's pleasant to visit Xinin in July and August but it might be cool in the evening. So remember to wear some warm clothes. But don't come in the winter. It'll be freezing cold.
In Guangzhou, there are storms from time to time in the summer and fall. It's usually very hot and sunny compared to many other places.
So when’s the best time visit China? Any time you like!
