Lesson 42　Happy Holidays!
【教学目标】
1.能够掌握课标要求的“四会”词汇：excited，beach，Australia，hope，yours。
2.让学生了解更多与介绍天气有关的用语。
3.让学生了解不同国家的天气特点。
【教学重难点】
1.掌握一些与天气介绍有关的词汇：cold，snowy。
2.运用所学知识介绍自己所在城市的天气特点。
3.掌握以下重点句子：
①It’s December 23 and Christmas is coming!
②I also like to go to the beach.
③I hope to go to Australia and see Anne next Christmas.
④Do you have any plans for your holidays?

一、创设情境，切入主题
Step 1：Lead－in
Lead－in by discussing the following questions：
1.How is the weather in Canada now？
2.What does Jenny hope to do next Christmas？
Discuss the questions in groups.Divide the class into three or four groups to finish the task.After several minutes，let some students come to the front to show it.
二、展开过程，探究新知
Step 2：Listening
Listen to the tape and answer the following questions：
1.What are the summer months in Canada？
2.What does Jenny like to do in summer？
Finish the task in class orally.
Step 3：Reading
Read the text and answer the following questions：
1.What’s the date today？
2.What are the summer months in Australia？
Finish the task in class orally.
Read the e－mail again，and then let the students retell it in their own words.Let them sum the main idea of it.
Ask some students to show in front of the class.
Step 4：Activities
Suppose you want to introduce your favourite weather.Write a short note.
Finish the task in groups.Then after a few minutes，let some students show their notes in front of the class.
Step 5：Come to “Let’s Do It！”
Listen to the tape again and finish Exercise 1 together.Read the lesson again and decide true or false of Exercise 2.
Ask the students to finish Exercise 3 by themselves.
三、布置作业
Finish Exercise 4 in “Let’s Do It！”.
