课题:Unit 4 Don’t eat in class.
第四课时 Section B (2a-3c, Self check)
Learning Goals:
In this period, the students will learn some new words and phrases in the two letters. After reading the letters, the students will finish the sentences with have to /must, can or can’t. They are supposed to retell the letters by learning them. Besides, the students should learn to write a letter about the rules.
Teaching and learning steps:
Step 1 Revision
Show the sentences on the screen and let the students translate the sentences into English.
1. 不要在走廊里跑。
2. 我们可以在教室吃东西吗?不,我们不能。但我们可以在餐厅吃。
3. 我们必须按时上课。
4. 他必须在学校穿校服吗?
5. 我们必须在图书馆保持安静。
Revise the imperatives and the model verbs can, must and have to by translating the above sentences.
(通过汉译英练习,全面复习本单元已经学过的内容,如:祈使句的结构,情态动词的用法及各种句式结构。让学生进一步巩固已学内容,并为下面的学习打好基础。)

Let the students read the letters and underline the rules for Molly. Ask some students to read the rules and try to translate them.
Ask the students to find out the new words and phrases in the letters and learn to read them.
Let the students read the letters again and complete the sentences with have to/must, can or can’t.
Check the answers.
Post-reading activities:
Step 4 Retell the letters.
Show the following letters on the screen and let the students complete them without books.

Let the students complete the chart in 3b, then write a letter to Dr. Know and tell him about all the rules and how they feel about them.
Ask some students to read their writings and others listen and try to correct them.
