1. Teacher show the picture, then ask the following questions
a. Egypt is in Africa, isn’t it?
b. What is it famous for?
c. Where are pyramids?
2. Teach the new words and expressions in the pictures
( wonder, Egypt, Egyptian, pyramids, the Nile River)
3. Ask and answer the following questions in pairs, using the words and expressions just learned as many as possible
a. The Pyramid is one of the seven ancient wonders of the world, isn’t it?
b. Where are the pyramids?
c. What is in the pyramids?

1. look at the table in the comprehension check , then get the information we need to listen.

⑤ nearly 和almost
nearly 与almost都表示“几乎，差不多” almost no= hardly
e.g. It is nearly three yeas since I came to Shanghai.
It is almost three years since I came to Shanghai.
但是当句中有no, nothing, never, none等否定词时不用nearly, 用almost
e.g. Almost nothing can stop me writing this book.
Bill is a lazy boy. He almost never cleans his room.

e.g. The scientists are working hard on a new kind of medicine.
They have worked on the bridge for two years, but they have not completed it yet.
